Computational-thinking skills in all subjects, foundational concepts of AI: What draft curriculum has in mind for CBSE students | Education News

Next academic year onwards, CBSE students, as young as those studying in Class 3, will likely find computational-thinking skills integrated in all subjects as the Board prepares to implement an AI-focused curriculum. A draft artificial intelligence (AI) and computational thinking curriculum developed by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for classes 3 to 12 also focuses on introducing foundational concepts of AI in the lower classes, along with advanced computational thinking and AI as compulsory subjects in classes 9 and 10, official sources said. The draft curriculum, which has been submitted to the NCERT for review, provides a structure for schools to introduce computational thinking and AI in a phased and progressive manner from classes 3 to 12. Story continues below this ad The curriculum is in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which calls for the introduction of “contemporary” subjects like AI, design thinking, and holistic health in the curriculum. For classes 3 to 5, the curriculum recommends that computational thinking — currently a part of the math curriculum in school …

The best stuff we’ve seen at Mobile World Congress 2025 so far

Mobile World Congress 2025 is well under way in Barcelona, Spain, and while there’s still two days left, the mobile-focused show has already delivered lots of new laptops, smartphones, concepts, and innovative accessories. Some of the biggest announcements were made over the weekend, so we want to make sure you didn’t miss anything. Here are the best gadgets that have debuted at MWC 2025 so far, but there’s still more to come. You can catch up on all of our coverage of the show right here. Photo: Allison Johnson / The Verge Many of the most innovative devices making their debut at MWC are concepts that could one day make their way into consumers’ hands. Samsung’s Display group demonstrated a few different prototypes including an asymmetrical Z Flip-style phone that folds in two places leaving the middle of its screen visible, and a larger folding display hidden inside a briefcase. Its most interesting concept was a Nintendo Switch-style handheld console with a hinge in the middle allowing it to fold in half for improved portability. …

Infinix’s new concepts use solar power to charge your phone

Infinix’s new concepts use solar power to charge your phone

Chinese phone brand Infinix is known to show off a flashy concept, and at this year’s MWC the company is looking skyward for inspiration. It’s showing a phone with an integrated solar panel on the back, as well as a solar charging phone case. They’re both in the concept phase, but the demo units I saw at MWC were functional and the idea is plenty appealing. Infinix calls this SolarEnergy-Reserving technology, and it uses perovskite solar cells like Anker’s beach umbrella and cloak concept. These cells are thinner and cheaper to produce than traditional silicon solar cells. That’s paired with a system that helps regulate voltage called Maximum Power Point Tracking. The idea is to maximize power while managing heat; sitting under a hot sun might be good for solar cells, but it’s generally not great if you want to keep your phone from overheating. As it exists now, this technology can charge a phone at up to 2W, and is intended to pad out a phone’s reserved charge while it’s not in use. The …

Lenovo’s Yoga Solar PC concept laptop can be charged by the sun

Lenovo’s Yoga Solar PC concept laptop can be charged by the sun

Lenovo has announced a new concept laptop at Mobile World Congress that encourages you to work outside by reducing your dependence on power cables. The Yoga Solar PC is an early proof of concept device featuring a solar panel integrated into the laptop’s lid. It can harness light from any source to boost its battery, but as with most solar-powered devices, you’ll get the most power while working outside on a clear, sunny day. The Yoga Solar PC’s light-absorbing panel is made up of 84 solar cells featuring a Back Contact cell design. All of the panel’s mounting brackets and electrical contacts that collect and transfer the energy that’s generated are located behind the solar cells. The front of the panel is able to capture more light, allowing Lenovo to achieve a conversion rate – how much of the captured sunlight is converted to usable electricity – of more than 24 percent. That’s more efficient than most of the silicone-based solar panels used in consumer electronics today, but a bit behind panels featuring an added …

Nyrra M Banerji: TV tries to experiment with content but poor TRPs force makers to switch back to same old concepts

With the advent of OTT in the last few years, everyone in the film and television industry have bucked up their game and are fighting day in day out to churn out good and unique content that is liked by the audience. However, there are incidents where some makers seem to be stuck in the rut of same old tried-and-tested formulas and don’t want to reinvent. Actor Nyrra Banerji, who features in Pishachini (ONLY ONLINE MENTION), a supernatural drama that has been the target of memes in the recent past, says it’;s not like TV show makers haven’t realised the need to improve their content but they have several restrictions. “I’ve seen it with my own eyes that the makers have time and again tried to experiment with the content. Producers, makers, creative team try so hard to come up with new things and create something that’s more contemporary and modern. But in TV, what happens is that we observe the TRP ratings, and see what’s working. If our experiment is not taken up well …
