The Telangana High Court has directed the release of three children to their adoptive parents, emphasising the emotional bonds formed over procedural lapses in the adoption process. The judgment, delivered by Justice T. Madhavi Devi, followed a similar directive from the Supreme Court that invoked extraordinary powers to ensure “complete justice” for the families involved. While directing the children to be released within a week, the December 23 order clarified that the release was subject to the same conditions imposed by the Supreme Court in the Dasari Anil Kumar case and that these orders are specific to this batch of cases and shall not be considered precedents for future cases involving unauthorized adoptions. The matter dates back to May 2024 when the Medipally police station registered FIRs and took custody of the children from the petitioners’ homes, handing them over to government child care institutions.
