Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday rubbished remarks made by Rahul Gandhi suggesting that the NDA government at the Centre could collapse within a year, describing the statement as little more than “daydreaming”, reported the PTI. Responding to questions from reporters, Fadnavis compared Gandhi’s comments to the well-known television serial Mungerilal Ke Haseen Sapne, which centred on fanciful dreams and unrealistic expectations. “There was once a popular television programme called Mungerilal Ke Haseen Sapne. His statement is nothing beyond that,” the Maharashtra chief minister remarked, the news agency reported. The BJP has alleged that Rahul Gandhi made the prediction during a meeting of the advisory council of the Congress Minority Department earlier this week, where he reportedly claimed that the Narendra Modi-led government would not survive beyond the coming year. The Maharashtra Congress on Friday accused the BJP of “misusing” the occasion of the 150th anniversary of national song ‘Vande Mataram‘ for “political polarisation” and “hypocritical nationalism”. The Congress refuted the BJP’s reported allegations that any of its party legislators had opposed the singing of ‘Vande Mataram’.( Arun Mondhe/ Hindustan Times) Composed by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, ‘Vande Mataram’ was first published in the literary journal ‘Bangadarshan’ on November 7, 1875. Later, he incorporated the hymn in his novel ‘Anandamath’ which was published in 1882. On 24 January 1950, India’s constituent assembly adopted it as a national song.
