The arrest followed a police complaint and was carried out during an early-morning operation in Guwahati, according to officials familiar with the matter. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma claimed the alleged plot was aimed at manufacturing public sympathy for Gogoi amid an ongoing political controversy.
