2 min readBengaluruMar 24, 2026 10:35 PM IST A consortium led by the Aditya Birla Group (ABG) emerged as the lead bidder to acquire the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for a whopping USD 1.78 billion (approximately Rs 16,706 crore). Other parties involved in the group are Blackstone, an equity firm of which Viral Patel is the CEO, Bolt Ventures, owned by American investor David Blitzer, and media conglomerate Times of India. “Aditya Birla Group (“ABG”), The Times of India Group (“Times”), Bolt Ventures (“Bolt”), and Blackstone’s perpetual private equity strategy, BXPE (“Blackstone”) have signed a definitive agreement to acquire 100% of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (“RCB”), encompassing both the men’s Indian Premier League franchise and the Women’s Premier League franchise, from United Spirits Limited (“USL”), a subsidiary of Diageo plc. The transaction values the franchise at INR 166.6 billion (approximately US$1.78 billion),” confirmed the development by the new consortium on Tuesday. ISL clubs told to submit proposal regarding consortium | Football News

The Indian Super League (ISL) clubs were on Thursday asked to submit a proposal with regards to formation of a consortium to run the league, the 2025-26 season of which is yet to start. Representatives of all ISL clubs have been invited to attend the upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the AIFF on Saturday, on the sidelines of which the matter will be discussed. “Regarding the consortium thing, the clubs have been told to submit to the ministry their proposal so that it can be discussed during the Dec 20 AGM. But there is no guarantee,” a club representative told PTI. The matter was also discussed during a virtual meeting between officials of the AIFF, representatives of the ISL clubs and the sports ministry on Thursday. The clubs have been asked to submit the proposal by Friday evening. SC pulls up NLU consortium over errors in CLAT 2025; seeks government’s response | Latest News India

The Supreme Court on Wednesday pulled up the consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) for setting up questions for the national Common Law Admission Test-Undergraduate (CLAT-UG) 2025 in the most “casual” manner as it directed changes in the marking pattern of six questions. The bench noted that in some questions, the answer key issued by the consortium was contrary to past SC judgments. (File photo) The court also sought the Centre’s response to have a permanent mechanism for conducting the examination similar to NEET and other combined entrance tests in the interest of students. U.S. AI companies and companies that do business in the U.S. will be affected by those guidelines and standards and may have the opportunity to have input about them. What is the U.S. AI Safety Institute consortium? The U.S. AI Safety Institute is a joint public and private sector research group and data-sharing space for “AI creators and users, academics, government and industry researchers, and civil society organizations,” according to NIST. Organizations could apply to become members between Nov. 2, 2023 and Jan. 15, 2024. Out of more than 600 interested organizations, NIST chose 200 companies and organizations to become members. Participating organizations include Apple, Anthropic, Cisco, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Hugging Face, Microsoft, Meta, NVIDIA, OpenAI, Salesforce and other companies, academic institutions and research organizations.
