The committee would be asked to submit its report in 100 days recommending measures for providing better services and ensuring that welfare schemes reached beneficiaries directly through digital governance. The Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy instructed officials to formulate plans for ushering in full scale digital governance and draft necessary legislation in this direction. He enquired about the digitalisation of data pertaining to contract and outsourcing employees along with regular staff. Officials were directed to digitise the entire data, including their salaries and bank accounts, to ensure that salaries were paid to these employees on the first day of every month. 4 min readMumbaiJun 28, 2026 11:03 PM IST Maharashtra Governor has requested the central government five times for the reconstitution of the Vidarbha, Marathwada, and Rest of Maharashtra Development Boards through semi-official letters since October 2022, informed Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in a written reply to the state legislative assembly. In a written reply submitted to a starred question regarding the expiry of these boards in April 2020, the CM informed that the governor has sent five semi-official letters dated October 28, 2022; December 12, 2022; April 9, 2023; August 22, 2024 and December 10, 2025 to the central government. “Furthermore, the Secretary to the Hon’ble Governor was informed via a semi-official letter dated 06.05.2026 to again request the Central Government (Ministry of Home Affairs) to reconstitute all three development boards. Currently, this matter is pending with the Central Government,” it added. Three development boards, namely Vidarbha, Marathwada and Rest of Maharashtra were constituted by the governor on June 25, 1994. The Karnataka government is preparing a fresh inquiry into long-running land acquisition disputes that have accumulated across multiple departments, with deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar announcing that a special investigation team (SIT) will be set up to examine irregularities and identify officials and lawyers who may have contributed to delays and financial losses. DK Shivakumar (PTI) Speaking after a review at Vidhana Soudha, Shivakumar said on Saturday that the state had little choice but to intervene directly, given the volume of unresolved cases and the potential burden on the treasury. “We are forming an SIT to investigate irregularities in land acquisition for the Irrigation and Bengaluru Development departments. Image Source : PTI (FILE) Delhi High Court. The Delhi High Court on Wednesday (November 27) refused to entertain a PIL seeking the constitution of a ‘Sanatan Dharma Raksha Board’. A bench headed by Chief Justice Manmohan observed that it cannot issue a direction to the authorities to constitute such a board as the issue fell within the policy domain and asked the petitioner to approach the government instead. “You have to go to the government. We don’t do this. They (MPs) will raise it in Parliament. We can’t do anything in this. We can’t say create a trust,” the bench, also comprising Justice Tushar Rao Gedela, said. He said similar boards were present for other religions but he was yet to receive any response from the Centre on his representation. The court observed that it did not have the knowledge or capability to pass the direction sought by the petitioner. “Writ petition is closed after giving liberty to the petitioner to approach the government,” the court said.   Source link

The State government, on Wednesday, informed the Telangana High Court that it would require six weeks to constitute a committee that would take a call on the appointment of Chief Information Commissioner and Information Commissioners. The government counsel made this submission before a Bench of Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Anil Kumar Jukanti, which heard a PIL petition seeking direction for appointment of the CIC and ICs in the State. The government was yet to re-constitute the committee, comprising the leader of the Opposition party, in the backdrop of the change of guard following the recently Assembly elections, the counsel told the Bench. GHMC Commissioner Ronald Rose and Hyderabad Collector Anudeep Durishetty appeared before the Bench for a writ petition related to encroachment of lands belonging to water bodies in and around Hyderabad.
