To ‘weed out non-believers’, Gangotri temple will make panchgavya consumption a must | India News

4 min readDehradunApr 19, 2026 06:40 AM IST With the Char Dham Yatra scheduled to commence Sunday, the portals of Gangotri and Yamunotri temples are set to open, with the former expected to restrict entry to select devotees this time. Gangotri temple committee chairperson Dharmendra Semwal said the step was aimed at “weeding out non-believers” and ensuring that only those with “unshaken spirituality” visit. “When the doors open, we will depute a few people at the gates to administer the mixture before entry. Those who respect Sanatan would have no issue consuming it. Devotees should consider it fortunate that they are being provided with this holy substance. Earlier, only pujaris and those entering the sanctum would consume it. This practice will improve faith and spirituality,” he said. Gangotri MLA Suresh Singh Chauhan said the Ganga is a hub of spirituality. “The shrine does not attract …

What celebrity nutritionist Pooja Makhija has to say about gluten consumption: ‘A regular slice of bread has about 14000 microorganism parts…’ | Health News

Strolling along the bread aisle in a supermarket can leave you a little too confused. Between focacia, garlic and rye, the options seem endless. But multiple visits to the washroom after scarfing down a delicious sandwich is on no one’s to-do list. As such, choosing the right kind of bread that supports your gut health is key to a good diet. In a conversation with Masoom Minawala on her podcast, celebrity nutritionist Pooja Makhija discussed the differences between regular and sourdough bread and what makes the latter superior. “Sourdough, I love. Sourdough can be ragi, can be rye, can be anything. We are just using the sourdough culture and vastly reducing the gluten. It’s not gluten-free, but …
