The Election Commission on Thursday released 42 Statistical Reports on Lok Sabha Elections 2024 and 14 reports each on four state assembly elections held simultaneously. In the report, the EC said that women candidates contesting 2024 Lok Sabha polls were 800 as against 726 in 2019. The EC said these 100 statistical reports will be a treasure trove for academicians, researchers, election watchers worldwide for in-depth analysis and policy insights. “The Lok Sabha Elections creates world record with 64.64 crore voters exercising their franchise. THE Maharashtra Congress on Wednesday suspended three of its rebel candidates who are contesting from three assembly seats in Pune city. The party said the three have been suspended from the primary membership of the party for a period of six years. The three who have been suspended include Aba Bagul, who has rebelled in Parvati assembly constituency where NCP (SP) candidate Ashwini Kadam is contesting, Kamal Vyavahare who has rebelled in Kasba Peth seat against party candidate Ravindra Dhangekar, and Manish Anand who has rebelled against Congress’s atta Bahirat in Shivajinagar constituency. Maharashtra Congress chief spokesperson Atul Londhe told The Indian Express, “All those who have rebelled against MVA candidates across Maharashtra have been suspended for a period of six years. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is contesting on the most number of seats — 20 of 46 — in the Marathwada region in the Maharashtra Assembly election 2024, news agency PTI reported. The region in Central Maharashtra comprises the districts of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Beed, Hingoli, Jalna, Latur, Nanded, Osmanabad, and Parbhani. It has been the epicentre of the Maratha protests steered by activist Manoj Jarange. The Mahayuti — comprising the BJP, Shiv Sena, and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) could win only one of the eight seats in Marathwada in the Lok Sabha polls held earlier this year. The Shiv Sena, led by Chief Minister (CM) Eknath Shinde, has fielded candidates in 16 constituencies in this region. New Delhi: The Haryana BJP has expelled eight rebels from the party days ahead of the October 5 assembly elections. The leaders have been expelled for six years after they filed nominations as Independents, contesting against leaders of the BJP including Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.  A statement by state party chief Mohan Lal Badoli said the list includes former minister Ranjit Chautala, who had quit the post after he was denied ticket. Sandeep Garg, who had filed nomination to contest against Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini from Ladwa was expelled as well. All eight have been expelled for six years. The other six expelled leaders are Zile Ram Sharma, who is contesting from the Assandh seat, former minister Bachan Singh Arya from Safido, Radha Ahlawat from Meham, Naveen Goyal from Gurgaon, and Kehar Singh Rawat from Hathin and former MLA Devendra Kadyan.
