Prayagraj, The Allahabad High Court has refused to entertain a petition filed by a businessman on behalf of Mohammad Ali Jauhar University against the demolition of its buildings, observing that the pleader is an outsider and not an official of the institution. The Left Democratic Front (LDF) has an upper hand at present in these seats, and the United Democratic Front (UDF) has only one MLA, K.K. Thiruvananthapuram : The contours of the poll battle in Kerala became clear on Tuesday as the Congress released a list of 55 candidates and ally Indian Union Muslim League another 25 for the upcoming assembly polls next month. Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala has been fielded from Haripad constituency. With this, the ruling Left Democratic Front has announced 130candidates, its main challenger the United Democratic Front 95, and the National Democratic Alliance 75. Thambi Durai, Vinod Tawde and Babul Supriyo among them. However, contests remain unresolved in Bihar, Odisha and Haryana. In Bihar, four candidates — Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Ramnath Thakur from the JD(U), along with the BJP’s Nitin Nabin and Shivam Kumar — are expected to win comfortably. RAGHUNATHAN Shaastra 2025, the technical festival of the Indian Institute of Technology-Madras (IIT-M), which will be held from January 3 to 7, is expected to attract around 1.25 lakh participants to the campus. The 26th edition will feature 80 contests and 130 stalls, including those set up by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the Navy, and the Army, said V. Kamakoti, Director, IIT-M. On the first two days, the institute will host an open house, for which over 55,000 participants have registered, Mr. Kamakoti told mediapersons here on Monday. The National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) is collaborating with the institute for this year’s festival. Though the Naval Department of the IIT-M does the maximum number of consultancies, very few students opt for the discipline, Mr. Kamakoti said.
