Maharashtra: Gadchiroli Police seize contraband worth Rs 5 lakh

In a major drive against illegal activities, the Gadchiroli Police conducted a special ‘Operation All Out’ and combing operation across Gadchiroli, Armori, and Chamorshi police station limits on Wednesday. During the operation, 13 cases were registered against illegal liquor trade, and contraband worth Rs 5,00,700 was seized. As part of the combing operation, 139 history-sheeters and known criminals were checked. The drive was conducted under the guidance of Superintendent of Police M Ramesh and led by Additional SP Aniket Hirde. Police teams from Gadchiroli, Armori, and Chamorshi stations carried out raids at various locations, including hotels, lodges, and secluded spots. As many as 300 vehicles were checked during nakabandi, and action was taken against 40 vehicles under the Motor Vehicles Act. Truck driver, who ‘boasted of social media following’, allegedly attacks cop at inter-state check post in Gujarat | Ahmedabad News

A truck driver was arrested in Gujarat’s Dahod district on Friday for attempting to murder a police inspector while trying to flee an inter-state check post. Dahod district police said the incident occurred around 1 am at the Khangela inter-state check post, which is a key entry point into Gujarat used to check smuggling, particularly of liquor. When a team from Katvara police station signalled a truck to stop, the driver allegedly ignored the signal and sped away, prompting a police chase. The police chased the truck for nearly two kilometres before intercepting it. According to officials, the driver initially got into a verbal argument with the police and repeatedly boasted about his large social media following. When the police attempted to search the vehicle, he allegedly tried to flee on foot and attacked Katvara Police Inspector Umesh Gavit with a stone, causing serious injury to his right eye. Meghalaya: BSF foils smuggling attempt, seizes contraband worth Rs 12 lakh

The Border Security Force (BSF) successfully intercepted a smuggling operation in Meghalaya on Friday, confiscating contraband worth Rs 12 lakh. The soldiers seized 12 cartons of ointment cream along the international border of Meghalaya, reported news agency ANI.  A BSF official stated that “Acting on specific information, the troops of the 4th Battalion conducted a special operation near the International Border, during which they managed to seize cosmetics concealed in a jungle area, intended for smuggling into Bangladesh.” The seized contraband has been handed over to the customs office at Pynursla for further necessary action, as per BSF officials. This incident follows another significant seizure by BSF on Wednesday, where they obstructed a smuggling attempt involving cattle, along with with contraband items worth at Rs 16 lakh. This operation was triggered by alerts about cattle being smuggled across the border.  During this operation, the BSF personnel of the 4th Battalion posted in Meghalaya carried out special operations near the border to curb cross-border smuggling, ANI stated. Jagadgirigutta shop owner arrested with 26 kg ganja chocolates  

  Madhapur Special Operation Team (SOT) along with Jagadgirigutta police, on Sunday, seized 26 kg of cannabis chocolates and 4 kg of ganja powder from a shop in Jagadgirigutta. Following a tip-off, the police searched Jayashree Traders, a grocery shop located in Anjaiah Nagar of Jagadgirigutta and seized 160 packets (6,400 units) of ganja chocolates weighing 26 kg and 4 kg of ganja powder, both worth ₹2.66 lakh. The police also arrested the shop owner Manoj Kumar Aggarwal, 54. According to officials, Manoj who is a native of Kolkata in West Bengal has been receiving the contraband from Mohan — a drug supplier from Kolkata.  The Jagadgirigutta police are further investigating the case. Delhi Police destroys contraband worth Rs 1,600 crore in anti-drug drive

The Delhi Police on Tuesday destroyed contraband worth Rs 1,600 crore in a drive under its `Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan`, an anti-drug drive. The contraband was destroyed in the presence of Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, officials said, reported the PTI. “Today in the presence of Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, 10631.745 kg of illegal drugs worth about Rs 1,600 crores (sic) in the international market were destroyed as per procedure at the incinerator located at SSI Industrial Area, GT Karnal Road, Near Jahangirpuri, Delhi,” Additional Commissioner of Police Sanjay Bhatia said, as per the PTI. According to a Union finance ministry notification and the order of the Supreme Court, various committees were formed by the Delhi Police to destroy illegal drugs recovered from the drug smugglers. The destroyed contraband came from seizures in drug cases from 2009 to 2023. “Ganja, heroin, charas, cocaine, doda post and psychotropic substances were prominent among the illegal drugs destroyed. Jammu and Kashmir: Anantnag Police arrest three with contraband substances

Jammu and Kashmir Police said it has recovered 9.27 kilograms of charas powder and 867 bottles of illicit alcohol, along with the arrest of three persons in Anantnag district. Following their arrest, a case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and different sections of the Excise Act at the Mattan police station. Further investigation is underway, an official statement said. Two vehicles and a motorcycle, along with cash worth Rs 13,325 were also seized from the possession of the accused, as per the statement. The statement added that Anantnag Police received information through reliable sources that a family comprising a father, Mother and son, namely Mohd Ramzan Ganai, Shahzada Akhter and Zubair Ramzan Ganai, all residents of Seer Hamdan Mattan, “under a well-planned criminal conspiracy are continuously indulging in the illegal trade of illicit alcohol as well as cannabis charas powder.” The statement further said that the trio has concealed a huge quantity of illicit alcohol as well as illicit cannabis charas powder in specially made hideouts in their residential …
