The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Maharashtra`s Latur district has apprehended a 43-year-old contractual assistant programme officer for accepting a bribe of Rs 12,000, an official said on Friday, reported the PTI. The suspect was identified as Jyotirling Baburao Chikhale (43). He is serving at the Panchayat Samiti office in Renapur, the officials said. According to the ACB, the complainant had approached Chikhale to process the revised estimate for the construction of a well under the Employment Guarantee Scheme and correct his surname in the government records. However, Chikhale allegedly demanded Rs 15,000 to do the job, according to the PTI. The complainant informed the ACB regarding the matter and after being alerted, the ACB first verified the complaint. During the verification operation, the ACB officials found out that Chikhale had allegedly told the complainant to `give whatever you feel is right`, said the official, as per the PTI.
