Sippy Sidhu murder case: Forensics’ take on bullet injury contradicts eyewitness version, states Kalyani’s counsel

Sippy Sidhu murder case: Forensics’ take on bullet injury contradicts eyewitness version, states Kalyani’s counsel

The defence counsel for Kalyani Singh, the main accused in the Sippy Sidhu murder case, alleged that there was a major discrepancy in the forensics team’s deposition and the eyewitness’ account on one of the gunshots fired at the victim. This was stated during the examination of prosecution witnesses on Monday. Defence counsel Sartej Singh Narula stated that this goes against the testimony of the eyewitness, who had claimed that a figure, with his face covered, had entered the park in Sector 27 where Sidhu was allegedly present with Kalyani, and shot Sidhu from the back from the same level. (HT File) The shot in question is cited as shot number 4 in the deposition statement of witness number 14, Dr Amandeep Singh, the forensic expert from Government Medical College & Hospital (GMCH), Sector-32, Chandigarh. Dr Singh, who was part of the team which conducted the post-mortem in 2015, had stated that shot number 4, fired at Sidhu’s back, had a downward wound track, suggesting that the assailant was positioned higher than the victim. “Some People Think…”: Mitchell Starc Contradicts Mohammed Shami’s Take On COVID Era Rule That Sparked A Debate

“Some People Think…”: Mitchell Starc Contradicts Mohammed Shami’s Take On COVID Era Rule That Sparked A Debate

The use of saliva to shine cricket balls in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has generated contradictory views. Ahead of the IPL 2025, the BCCI lifted the long-standing ban on the use of saliva, first imposed during the COVID-19 pandemic. While the likes of Mohit Sharma, Axar Patel, and others welcomed the upliftment of the ban, Australia star and Delhi Capitals pacer Mitchell Starc gave a completely contradictory reaction on the use of saliva. Starc’s comment came after he brilliantly helped DC to claim a super over-win against Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday. Starc restricted RR to 11/2 in 0.5 balls in the super over. Later, DC went across the line and chased down 12 runs in just four balls. After the match, Starc was asked about his views on usage of saliva by the bowlers. He stated that such things don’t make a difference to him and called it a “myth”. “I don’t use it. I think it’s a myth. Some people think they swear by it. I don’t …

Abhishek Sharma Contradicts Travis Head’s 6 Matches Theory On ‘Note’ After Century Against PBKS

Sunrisers Hyderabad opener Abhishek Sharma revealed that his unique century celebration wasn’t a rehearsed gesture but a random thought he wrote in the morning that if he delivers, then it will be for the Orange Army. The 24-year-old produced a blitzkrieg 141 off just 55 deliveries, breaking KL Rahul’s record for the highest individual score by an Indian in Indian Premier League (IPL) history, becoming the third-highest overall. After reaching his maiden IPL century, the opener raised his bat and then pulled out a note with “THIS ONE IS FOR ORANGE ARMY” written on it. When asked about his unique celebration during the post-match press conference, Abhishek said, “I wrote it today only because usually I wake up and write something. So, today I got a random thought that if I do something today, that will be for the Orange Army. So, luckily, I thought today was my day. I wrote it today, and I think it was a good, lucky day.” Abhishek, who endured a tough outing in the last five games …

J&K govt. contradicts its public stand in reply to High Court on the reservation policy, stokes controversy

J&K govt. contradicts its public stand in reply to High Court on the reservation policy, stokes controversy

The ruling National Conference (NC) government’s official stand on reservation quotas in Jammu and Kashmir, submitted to the High Court here on Saturday, put the Omar Abdullah government in the dock for taking a position in complete contrast to the public stand adopted by his party.   In the government’s reply to a petition seeking rationalisation of the revised reservation quota in J&K, the Social Welfare Department submitted to the court that “the petition is an abuse of judicial process, having been filed without any cause of action”.  It informed the court that the petitioners “filed the present petition on completely false grounds in an attempt to deceive the Court”. “…the petition on the face of it is an attempt to abuse the judicial process motivated by ulterior and oblique motives. The petition, if allowed would set a wrong precedent, encouraging unscrupulous litigants, as in the instant case, dissipating the precious time and resources of the Honorable Court, by hoodwinking the Authority of the Court,” the J&K government’s reply said. It sought dismissal of the petition “at the outset”. “The instant writ …

SRH Coach James Franklin Contradicts Skipper Pat Cummins’ Verdict On 80-Run KKR Defeat

SRH Coach James Franklin Contradicts Skipper Pat Cummins’ Verdict On 80-Run KKR Defeat

SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) bowling coach James Franklin expressed his dissatisfaction, saying that his bowlers weren’t up to the mark in the death overs against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). SRH slumped to a record 80-run loss in their IPL 2025 match against KKR at the Eden Gardens on Thursday. Franklin suggested that SRH didn’t bowl well in the second half of KKR’s innings, contradicting the remarks made by captain Pat Cummins, who expressed disappointment over the missed opportunity, believing that the target was well within reach. “It’s likely a combination of both the assessment and the execution. For example, the 65 runs off the last four overs probably reflect that we didn’t get it quite right. At the halfway stage, KKR were 84 or 85 for two. If we’d managed the back 10 overs better, we probably could have kept them to 170-180, but we didn’t quite execute,” said the ex-New Zealand pacer. “As a coach, sometimes you reflect and wonder, could we have done things better? Could we have been a bit braver …

Questions Arise As Mohammed Shami Contradicts Gautam Gambhir’s ‘Dubai Advantage’ Claim

Questions Arise As Mohammed Shami Contradicts Gautam Gambhir’s ‘Dubai Advantage’ Claim

The Indian cricket team team is facing a lot of criticism for the fact it is playing all its Champions Trophy 2025 matches in Dubai. The Rohit Sharma-led side decided not to travel to Pakistan for the ICC event and that saw Dubai International Cricket Stadium being picked as the neutral venue for all the India matches. While India didn’t have to travel across venues during the event, other teams, who have faced India so far, had the challenging task to travel across nations to play against the side. Many claimed that India got “unfair advantage” because of that. While speaking about the claims, India head coach Gautam Gamhir and ace pacer Mohammed Shami had contrasting opinions. Former India batter Aakash Chopra has highlighted the issue and asked who between them is correct. “Kaunsi undue advantage? (What undue advantage?) We practice at ICC Academy, where conditions are different from what we get here at the stadium. Some people are perpetual cribbers; they need to grow up,” said Gambhir after India’s win over Australia …

Trouble In Pakistan? PCB Chief Contradicts Captain Mohammad Rizwan Over Contentious Champions Trophy Selections

Trouble In Pakistan? PCB Chief Contradicts Captain Mohammad Rizwan Over Contentious Champions Trophy Selections

Champions Trophy 2025: File photo of PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi and Mohammad Rizwan© X/AFP Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi said that the selection committee “will review” the national squad picked for the Champions Trophy even as he defended the controversial selections of batter Khushdil Shah and all-rounder Faheem Ashraf. The PCB top boss statement was in complete contradiction to skipper Mohammed Rizwan’s assertion that no change is warranted in the 15-member squad. Every cricket board has time till February 12 to make any changes to their provisional squads picked for the ICC event which will be held in Pakistan and United Arab Emirates. “The selectors have the right to review any squad they announce. Khushdil Shah and Faheem Ashraf have been included in the squad with the right intentions,” he replied to a question. The selectors have come under fire from many former players and analysts after they recalled Khushdil and Faheem for the Champions Trophy even though the duo had not played international cricket for a while. While Faheem, who has …

SAI’s Claims JLN Stadium After Diljit Dosanjh’s Concert Contradicts Ground Reality

SAI’s Claims JLN Stadium After Diljit Dosanjh’s Concert Contradicts Ground Reality

The Sports Authority of India (SAI) released a statement on Monday claiming the readiness of the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, where two shows of Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh’s ‘Dil-Luminati’ music concert took place after social media videos showed the venue in disarray with piles of trash littered all around. IANS visited the site on Tuesday, two days after the event took place, only to discover the ground was still in need of a thorough cleaning as the aftermath of the concert was still on full display. The dismantling of the makeshift structure, close to the athletic track, used for the concert was still going on around 3 pm. The track around the ground, including the sand pit for the long jump, was littered and in need of dire work ahead of Punjab FC’s ISL clash against Chennaiyin FC on Thursday. The state in which IANS found the stadium was in total contradiction to claims made by SAI, which manages all stadiums owned by the Central Government, on Monday night after the news of the …
