Siraj was initially not in the India squad, but was called in as a replacement for Harshit Rana. Sanju Samson too was not a regular in the XI, but cemented his place as an opener after grabbing his chance against the West Indies in a must-win Super 8 clash. “The stories of some players in our World Cup squad have been very inspiring and emotional. Discord might use AI to help you catch up on conversations

Discord has become the place for gaming communities on the internet. The company just celebrated its 10th anniversary, and its impact is now big enough that it’s available directly on PlayStation and Xbox and was ripped off by Nintendo for the Switch 2’s GameChat. But as it tries to grow, one of the big challenges Discord faces is that, for big or longer-running communities, it can be hard to know where to start, hard to catch up to the speed of real-time conversations, and hard to sift through the potentially huge amounts of conversations and channels. A lot of communities used to form around forums, but Discord just isn’t a good replacement for that kind of structured messaging, as covered by Aftermath’s Luke Plunkett. “This is something we want to solve,” Peter Sellis, Discord’s SVP of product, tells The Verge. “It is not our intention to lock a bunch of this knowledge into Discord.” One way Discord wants to tackle the problem is add features that are “more amicable to structured knowledge sharing, like forums, …

ChatGPT will now remember your old conversations

ChatGPT will now remember your old conversations

OpenAI is giving ChatGPT a memory upgrade that allows it to recall old conversations that you didn’t ask it to save. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said on X that the chatbot can “now reference all your past conversations,” and that the update aligns with the company’s goal to develop “AI systems that get to know you over your life.” This builds on the “Memory” feature that was added to ChatGPT last year, which allowed limited information like queries, prompts, and customizations to be retained and used for future responses. With the long-term memory update, ChatGPT will now recall information in two ways — using the “saved memories” that users have manually asked it to remember, and “reference chat history,” which are “insights ChatGPT gathers from past chats to improve future ones,” according to OpenAI. The update will be available everywhere except in the EU, UK, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein, likely due to these regions having tight AI regulations that Altman has objected to in the past. It’s currently being rolled out to users paying …

Netflix show Adolescence has ignited discussions on child protection from online misogyny. Now, they have the ear of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who welcomed the filmmakers to Downing Street on Monday for talks on child protection. Starmer’s office said he backed an initiative by Netflix to stream the drama series for free to secondary schools across the country, so that as many teens as possible can watch it. It will help students understand impact of misogyny, says British PM Starmer said it was difficult watching the drama with his 14-year-old daughter and 16-year-old son. But showing the drama widely in schools will “help students better understand the impact of misogyny, dangers of online radicalization and the importance of healthy relationships,” his office said. “It seems like the whole nation is talking about Adolescence and not just this nation,” Starmer said. “As a dad, I have …

‘Humour is a way to make difficult conversations easier’: Actor Kal Penn on his memoir, Hollywood, and the White House | India News

“Algebra doesn’t have a plot,” Kal Penn said with a laugh, recalling a childhood conversation with his father about his struggles with maths. The American actor and writer, known for his roles in Harold & Kumar film series, House and The Namesake, was at the Jaipur Literature Festival to discuss his memoir, You Can’t Be Serious, an exploration of his journey as the son of Indian immigrants, his battles with bullying, and his rise in Hollywood. The session was a mix of humour, candour, and sharp insights into the challenges of representation in the entertainment industry. Penn’s memoir, he said, was inspired by the works of comedians such as Mindy Kaling and Tina Fey — books that are “funny, heartfelt, and the kind you can read on a train or on holiday.” But writing his own story, he admitted, was far more difficult than he anticipated. “I turned in the first draft of the first three chapters, and my editor called me and said, ‘Hey, so you pitched us a funny book. But this is …
