Man Kills His 3 Children, Then Dies By Suicide In Jharkhand: Cops

Giridih: In a tragic incident, a man allegedly killed his three children before dying by suicide in Maheshliti village, located in the Pirtand police station area of Jharkhand’s Giridih district, officials said on Sunday. The victims have been identified as 36-year-old Sanaul Ansari, his daughters Afreen Parveen (12) and Zaiba Naz (8), and his son Safaul Ansari (6). The police believe the incident occurred during the early hours of Sunday, around 2 or 3 a.m. The grim discovery was made on Sunday morning when neighbours, concerned by the lack of movement in Sanaul’s house during Sehri (the pre-dawn meal during Ramzan), knocked on his door. When no response came, they entered the house and found Sanaul hanging, while the bodies of his three children lay nearby. Upon receiving information, the local police from Khokhara police station rushed to the scene, accompanied by Dumri Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Sumit Prasad. The bodies were later sent to Giridih Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examination. Preliminary investigations suggest that Sanaul strangled his three children before taking his own life. …

Cops Attempt To Resolve Dispute In Madhya Pradesh, Attacked By Villagers, 1 Dead

An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) was killed and several policemen were severely injured as villagers in Madhya Pradesh attacked them when they went to resolve a dispute. On Saturday, a group of tribals allegedly kidnapped and killed Rajan Dwivedi, on a suspicion that he killed their family member Ashok. However, as per police records, Ashok died six months ago, in a road accident. After being alerted of the alleged kidnapping and murder, local police reached the location where villagers attacked them with sticks and stones. The incident occurred in Gadra village, around 30 km from Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa division. Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Ankita Sulya, who reached the location to control the situation, was surrounded by angry villagers. Ms Sulya had to lock herself in a room and was rescued after an additional police team along with senior police officers reached the spot late on Saturday night. The injured policemen and officers were rushed to Civil Hospital and Ashirwad Hospital in Mauganj. ASI Ramcharan Gautam of the Special Armed Forces succumbed to his injuries during treatment. …

The incident took place on Friday night in Mankisar village under Ramnagar police station limits, he added. “Deepu Kewat was playing loud music on DJ (popular term for sound amplifiers) as part of Holi celebrations. His neighbour Shankar Kewat requested him to lower the volume since his children were studying for exams. In response, Deepu and five of his kin attacked Shankar and his family, including father Munna Kewat,” he said. “Munna Kewat collapsed on the ground in the attack and was declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital. Palghar: Police in Maharashtra’s Palghar district have arrested a 49-year-old man for allegedly killing his wife two months ago and disposing of the body, an official said on Saturday. Harish Hippargi was arrested from Nalasopara East, on the outskirts of Mumbai, after police launched a probe following the discovery of a skull in a travel bag in Virar on Friday. Police said Hippargi, who worked in the imitation jewellery industry, used to live with his wife Utpala (51) and their 22-year-old son. Utpala also had a son from her previous marriage which often led to disputes between the couple. During one such fight on January 8, Hippargi strangled the woman. He took the body to Virar East, detached the head with a machete and dumped the torso in a drain. He put Utpala’s severed head in a travel bag and abandoned it in a secluded spot near Pirkunda Dargah, said police. Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis is enforcing restrictions on the use of loudspeakers on mosques, even as the Muslim community observes the holy month of Ramadan.
