Under criticism over errors in electoral rolls, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has corrected information on 92,466 voters ahead of the PMC elections. The draft electoral rolls having 35,51,854 voters were published for public scrutiny. A total of 65,213 suggestions and objections were received by the civic body of which 47,063 were accepted. “After the verification of applications, the civic administration has made changes in the information of 92,466 voters — mostly changes in the residence of voters who were shown in the electoral roll as staying away from their place of residence,” said municipal commissioner Naval Kishore Ram. A total of 18,150 suggestions and objections were rejected after verification, he said, adding that the reason for rejection was that the applicants had submitted wrong identity and address documents. “The civic administration first verified the identity of the applicant and then physically verified the address.
