Raigad ACB nabs revenue official, peon for accepting Rs 30,000 bribe in land case

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a revenue official and a peon in Raigad district for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 for processing a land-related proposal, an official said on Friday.  According to PTI, the accused were identified as Nitin Sadashiv Pawar (42), assistant revenue officer in the treasury bookkeeping branch of the Sub-Divisional Officer’s office at Shrivardhan, and Sachin Ramakant Patil (48), a peon in the same office. The Punjab government on Wednesday opposed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) move to initiate criminal proceedings against suspended deputy inspector general (DIG), Ropar range, Harcharan Singh Bhullar, arrested by the CBI in a corruption case in October. Besides the former MoIB deputy secretary, the CBI has also listed former a Prasar Bharati Additional Director General (Engineering) and an ADG (Engineering- Headquarters); two Assistant Engineers of Doordarshan Kendra-Bhubaneswar; and two Assistant Engineers of DD News-Delhi, as suspects in the FIR.
