File | Photo Credit: The Hindu The first day of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly’s Winter Session convened on Monday (December 1, 2025) with a war of words between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and the Opposition Congress MLAs over tragedies that killed many children in the State over the past few months.  The four-day-long session began with members paying their condolences to various people, including film actor and former Lok Sabha MP Dharmendra, former Union Minister Shriprakash Jaiswal, and the victims of the explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort. According to a report by India Today, Prasad was detained at Kolkata airport by Sonbhadra police as he attempted to board a flight to Thailand, with officials saying he had onward travel plans for Singapore. The official added that his attempt to leave the country suggested he may have been trying to evade the investigation. According to an AFP report, Indian citizen Singh Raghvendra Pratap, the director of the company that imported the Doc-1 Max syrup into Uzbekistan, was handed the harshest sentence of 20 years. Raghvendra was found guilty of corruption, tax fraud and forgery, according to the Supreme Court of Uzbekistan. At least 86 children in Uzbekistan were poisoned between 2022 and 2023 after consuming the said cough syrup, of whom 68 died. In the latest letter to Dr. Rogerio Gaspar, Director (Regulation and Prequalification) at WHO, Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) Dr. V. G.
