Soon after news of the raids broke on Wednesday morning, senior leaders came out in support of Vijayan and cadres took to the streets raising slogans against the BJP and the ED. The party’s social media handles which have been silent after the defeat in the elections, have also sprung into action in support of Vijayan. After the Assembly elections, Vijayan had appeared politically weakened within the party, with the massive verdict against the LDF being interpreted as a mandate against him and his style of functioning as Chief Minister. He had reportedly come under attack from middle- …

CPI(M) urges Opposition unity, criticises Congress over INDIA bloc stance

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has called for the revival of the Opposition INDIA bloc following the recently held Assembly election results, but alleged that the Congress, the largest constituent of the alliance, took a stand contrary to unity-building. “The attitude of the Congress towards other opposition parties does not help build the unity of secular forces in a united fight against the RSS-BJP, which is the need of the hour,” said a party statement issued on Monday after the Central Committee (CC) met in New Delhi from May 22 to 24 to assess recent Assembly election outcomes. It condemned allegations that CPI(M) had a “deal” with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Kerala polls, calling them malicious and baseless. BJP alleges complete law and order collapse after murder of Suvendu Adhikari’s close aide

BJP alleges complete law and order collapse after murder of Suvendu Adhikari’s close aide

The BJP on Thursday termed the murder of the close aide of its leader Suvendu Adhikari a proof of the “complete collapse” of law and order in West Bengal, ruled by the TMC for 15 years. It accused the Mamata Banerjee-led party of fostering “lawlessness” after losing power in the recently concluded assembly polls. With the high-profile murder taking place just a couple of days ahead of the swearing-in of the first BJP government in the state, all parties condemned the incident, while the Trinamool Congress rejected the charge and accused the saffron party of attempting to politicise the incident. Governance is the ultimate currency in Kerala

Governance is the ultimate currency in Kerala

In the Assembly elections of 2026, the electorate of this politically alert State delivered what many observers had anticipated — a decisive verdict, where the United Democratic Front (UDF), led by the Indian National Congress, is returning to power with a thumping majority, ending the Left Democratic Front’s (LDF) unprecedented decade-long run in office. Equally notable is the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) entry, with two former Union Ministers crossing the threshold into the Kerala Assembly. The results show a UDF majority with 97 seats (out of 140), against the LDF’s 35 and the NDA’s 3. The pattern across the recent electoral cycles tells its own story. The 2024 Lok Sabha result, in which the UDF swept 18 of the 20 parliamentary seats, was the …
