Blessing Muzarabani handed two-year PSL ban after pulling out for IPL

2 min readApr 14, 2026 04:17 PM IST The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has banned Zimbabwe fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for two years after he backed out of a contract for the 2026 season. Muzarabani was signed by Islamabad United for the upcoming PSL season but later decided to pursue an opportunity in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The 29-year-old joined Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as a replacement for Mustafizur Rahman for IPL 2026, leading the PCB to take disciplinary action against the pacer. The PCB released a statement highlighting the importance of honouring contracts in franchise cricket. “After a thorough review, the PCB has declared that Zimbabwean cricketer Blessing Muzarabani is ineligible to participate in the next two editions of the HBL PSL, effective immediately. This decision results from his failure to honor agreed commitments, which undermines the league’s professional structure. “The PCB believes that professional cricket depends on trust and the certainty of agreements. The WCA wants four 21-day windows in Core International Cricket (CIC) where teams play each other in its division in one series over a two-year cycle. Each series would include a …

‘Yes, you need family. But you also need a team’: Kapil Dev calls for balanced approach to players’ families on tours | Cricket News

Former India World Cup winning captain Kapil Dev delved into the BCCI’s recent diktat on limiting the duration of family visits for the Indian players while on tour. Dev said that the issue, which has been a real contentious one, needs a more balanced approach. “Well, I don’t know, that’s individual. I think it’s the cricket board’s call,” said the 1983 World Cup-winning captain, speaking on the sidelines of the ‘Kapil Dev Grant Thornton Invitational’ event.“My view is, yes, you need family. But you also need a team, all the time.” “In our time, we used to say to ourselves — not by the cricket board — that the first half of the tour should be cricket, and in the second half, the family should come and enjoy it too. It should be a blend,” he added. Story continues below this ad After India’s 1-3 Test series defeat against Australia, a BCCI directive was issued which curtailed the family time of players for no longer than 14 days on tours exceeding 45 days. The new …
