Eight people were arrested, and a teenager was detained for allegedly gang-raping a 20-year-old tribal woman in Jharkhand’s Ranchi district, police said on Sunday. The incident occurred on Friday night in a village under the Mandar Police Station area.  The accused forcefully took the woman to a secluded place near the village and raped her, police said. Shiv Sena workers staged a protest outside the Renukai Career Centre (RCC) headquarters in Maharashtra’s Latur on Monday after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested the institute’s founder, reported the PTI. The accused identified as Shivraj Raghunath Motegaonkar was held by the CBI in connection with the alleged NEET paper leak case, the news agency reported. Supporters of the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena gathered outside the coaching centre, raised slogans against Motegaonkar and threw ink on RCC signboards. Protesters accused him of damaging the future of lakhs of students by allegedly participating in the examination leak racket. Police on Tuesday said that the post-mortem report has confirmed that the four-year-old girl, who was allegedly sexually assaulted and murdered in Pune district, died due to asphyxia, reported the PTI. The incident took place in Narsapur in Bhor tehsil on May 1. According to officials, the accused allegedly gagged the child by stuffing a cloth into her mouth, which led to suffocation, the news agency reported. A senior police officer said the autopsy findings indicate death due to lack of oxygen. Injuries found on victim The report also noted injuries on the child’s body, indicating the severity of the assault. Police said the accused allegedly lured the victim with the promise of food before taking her to a secluded cattle enclosure where the crime took place.
