Sam and Tom Curran’s brother Ben replaces injured Brendan Taylor in Zimbabwe’s T20 World Cup squad | Cricket News

3 min readUpdated: Feb 13, 2026 01:09 PM IST Sam Curran is no longer the only member of his family playing in the 2026 T20 World Cup, although England have not made any new additions to their squad. His brother Ben Curran will now join him in the tournament, in Zimbabwe colours. The 29-year-old Ben, who has played eight Tests and as many ODIs for Zimbabwe but is yet to make his T20I debut, has been called up after veteran wicketkeeper-batter Brendan Taylor was ruled out of the tournament. “Curran was named as a replacement when Taylor was ruled out after sustaining a right hamstring injury during the match against Oman on 9 February,” said the International Cricket Council (ICC) in a statement on Friday. Zimbabwe are placed in in Group B while England are in Group C, which means that a face off between the Curran brothers is not yet guaranteed. At the time of publishing, Zimbabwe are locked in battle with former champions Australia in their second match of the tournament. England, meanwhile, …

Sam Curran’s Doppelganger Mocks Digvesh Rathi As LSG Star’s Notebook Celebration Backfires. Watch

Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) spinner Digvesh Rathi, known for his flamboyant “notebook” wicket celebration, found himself at the center of social media mockery after LSG’s elimination from the IPL 2025 playoffs. In a match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Australian YouTuber Jake Jeakings, resembling England’s Sam Curran, mimicked Rathi’s signature celebration from the stands, adding to the spinner’s troubles. This incident followed a heated on-field exchange between Rathi and SRH’s Abhishek Sharma, further intensifying the spotlight on Rathi’s conduct. The match, held at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, saw LSG posting a competitive total of 205/7, with significant contributions from Mitchell Marsh (65) and Aiden Markram (61). However, SRH chased down the target with ease, thanks to Abhishek Sharma’s explosive 59 off 20 balls and Heinrich Klaasen‘s steady 47 off 28 deliveries, finishing at 206/4 in 18.2 overs. The turning point came during the eighth over of SRH’s innings when Rathi dismissed Sharma and celebrated with his trademark “notebook” gesture, which has previously drawn criticism and fines. Sharma, visibly displeased, confronted Rathi on the field, …

‘Useless batting strike rate’: Virender Sehwag slams Ravindra Jadeja, questions Sam Curran’s role at No. 3 in CSK vs SRH match | Ipl News

‘Useless batting strike rate’: Virender Sehwag slams Ravindra Jadeja, questions Sam Curran’s role at No. 3 in CSK vs SRH match | Ipl News

In a scathing assessment of Chennai Super Kings’ seventh defeat of the IPL 2025 season against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Friday, Virender Sehwag did not mince words as he tore into the roles of Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran in the top-order during a five-wicket loss. Batting first at their Chepauk home ground with a rejigged line-up, CSK failed to put on another big score, bundling out for 154. CSK tried out Curran at three before Jadeja walked in at number four again. While Curran was dismissed for 9 off 10 balls, Jadeja failed to switch gears, falling for 21 off 17. “Wasn’t I saying that I feel like going home midway through the tournament. CSK’s batters are also perhaps thinking that way. Their batters are wondering when will they get back home? When will the tournament end? At least one of them should have taken responsibility. Jadeja has got a useless strike rate, but at least try to stay out there till the 15th or 18th over. The rest of the batters can then play …

“It Was Not Meant To Be”: PBKS Skipper Sam Curran’s Emotional Admission After Loss vs CSK

Following his side’s 28-run loss to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Punjab Kings (PBKS) captain Sam Curran said that the pitch turned out to be slower, rather than a quick, bouncy surface that they expected. Fiery spells from Ravindra Jadeja, Tushar Deshpande and Simarjeet Singh triggered a massive batting collapse and helped Chennai Super Kings (CSK) beat Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 28 runs at Dharamsala on Sunday. “I thought we bowled really well as a group. Rahul Chahar bowled really well, and the way Harshal Patel finished off. We were happy as a group at the halfway stage but unfortunately, it was not meant to be. We thought it (the pitch) was going to be slightly quicker, and have more bounce,” said Curran during the post-match presentation. “It was a bit slower but it was similar throughout the game. We have a couple of days off and then we play against RCB. We have to move on and keep fighting hard,” he added. Coming to the match, PBKS won the toss and elected to field first. …

At the other end of the line was Paradkar’s widow, Pramila. “I told him that I’ll be taking over the academy because sir had wished that it keeps running,” she tells The Indian Express. The response from the former pupil was a short one. “I’m coming to Mumbai. We’ll talk about it.” (Read more from Rahul Pandey) Source link

“Cricket Turning Into Baseball”: Sam Curran’s Monumental Remark As PBKS Chase Down World Record 262 vs KKR

“Cricket is turning into baseball,” Punjab Kings skipper Sam Curran aptly summed up his team’s T20 world record run chase of 262 against Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL here on Friday. Led by Jonny Bairstow‘s incredible hundred, Punjab Kings set the new world record for the highest run chase in the history of T20 cricket as they went past KKR’s 261/6 with eight wickets and eight balls to spare. “Very pleasing. Most importantly the win, cricket has turned to baseball isn’t it? We’re delighted with the two points,” Curran said at the post-match presentation ceremony. “We had a tough few weeks as a team. Forget about the scores, we deserved this victory.” Asked about the massive scores being put up by teams this IPL season, Curran said, “Loads of different things, guys can hit balls for long periods of time, the coaches, training, the dew, dot balls become wide after reviews and you get the extra ball. “Stats are going out of the window. For us, it’s all about the small moments. With the …

Viral Footage Reveals Reason Behind Tom Curran’s Four-Match BBL Ban. Watch

England all-rounder Tom Curran was handed a four-game Big Bash League (BBL) ban after being found guilty of intimidating an umpire in a pre-match dispute. Curran, who was recently bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL Players Auction for Rs 1.5 crore, was charged with a Level 3 offence and issued with four Suspension Points under clause 2.17 of the CA Code of Conduct following a BBL match in Launceston earlier this month. However, the franchise and player have confirmed their intention to launch an appeal against the four-match ban. In a viral video, Curran was seen indulging in an argument with the fourth umpire, who had asked him not to do a pre-match run-up on the pitch with his spikes on. The fourth umpire, who is in charge of supervising the pitch during pauses in play, tried to stop Curran from doing, but the player refused to co-operate. As a result, Curran was charged with a Level 3 infraction under Cricket Australia’s code of conduct. Why would you do this, Tom Curran! …

“Keep The Paddle Up There…”: Sam Curran’s Hilarious Take On IPL 2023 Auction

England all-rounder Sam Curran is hoping to get a good deal in the IPL auction on Friday, but said being in the same “bracket” as someone like Ben Stokes and a few others might affect his chances. The IPL auction will take place in Kochi with all-rounders like Stokes and Australia’s Cameron Green, among others, expected to make big bucks with several teams hoping to bid big on them. Curran, whose base price is Rs 2 crore, can multiply his earnings in the auction and the 24-year-old said he will be keenly following the action on television. “I’ve been in previous auctions (as well); you go in with your base price. I’ll be watching (the auction) on TV. On Friday morning, I guess, when your name comes up, you just say ‘keep the paddle up there’,” Curran said in a video posted by ‘The Telegraph’. Curran, who was picked up for a mind-boggling Rs 7.2-crore by Punjab Kings — the third-highest bid in the auctions prior to IPL 2019, added he was quite hopeful of …
