US Armyman To Ex On Renting Tesla Cybertruck He Blew Up

Days before blowing up a Tesla Cybertruck outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas, 37-year-old Army Ranger Matthew Livelsberger boasted to his ex-girlfriend about renting the vehicle, saying it made him “feel like Batman”. Livelsberger, who was married and had a child, had not spoken to his ex-girlfriend Alicia Arritt since their breakup in 2021, the Denver Gazette reported. One dead, seven injured as Cybertruck explodes outside Trump’s hotel in Las Vegas

A Tesla Cybertruck exploded just outside of the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada on New Year’s Day, law enforcement authorities have just confirmed. One person is dead inside the Cybertruck, and seven minor injuries have been reported, according to Las Vegas Sheriff Kevin McMahill. The FBI is also on the scene; authorities have evacuated the hotel and are looking for “secondary devices” just in case, but McMahill says “there does not appear to be any further threat to our community.” At around 8:40AM PT, a 2024 Cybertruck rolled up to the hotel lobby, according to authorities. “We saw that smoke started showing from the vehicle and then a large explosion from the truck occurs,” McMahill tells reporters. Fire crews were on scene within four minutes, and the fire was put out within an hour. Here is an alleged video of the moment of the explosion, seemingly captured via one of the hotel’s security cameras: A single anonymous “official briefed on the probe” told ABC News that the Cybertruck contained a load of “fireworks-style …

Tesla’s fixing recalled Cybertruck pedals with this rivet installation

While Aaron Cash’s video posted to X says it’s a “35 second recall fix,” demonstrated at the “Cyber Takeover” event in Long Beach, the video starts with the required drilling jig already in place. With it on the pedal, Tesla’s workers drill a hole as specified and install a rivet to secure the pedal pad so it won’t come off due to the “unapproved change” during manufacturing that made it slipperier than intended. The Service Bulletin posted by Tesla reveals the process has a few other required steps, including measuring “the distance between the bottom of the aluminum accelerator pedal pad and the bottom of the pedal backing” before the work begins. If the bottom of the pad is 5mm or further from the bottom of the pedal, then they’re supposed to replace the entire pedal assembly. Once it’s all done, they’re supposed to inspect the work with a mirror and clean up any debris the process has left in the customer’s $99,000-plus truck that came with an untrustworthy accelerator pedal. Cybertruck owners say deliveries halted over bad accelerator pedal

Over the last few days, Tesla has delayed some Cybertruck deliveries. The company hasn’t specified why or even publicly commented on the delays, but commenters in the Cybertruck Owners Club forum have reported receiving texts or calls telling them their deliveries were being rescheduled. One user said they’d been told by their dealer that the truck was recalled over its accelerator pedal. Another claimed Tesla sent them a text saying it’s not scheduling deliveries at the moment for the same reason. Several others reported receiving texts about issues with “the preparation of your vehicle.” An Elon Musk fan account called @WholeMarsBlog posted on X that deliveries have been halted for seven days, but that hasn’t been confirmed, and Tesla did not respond to The Verge’s email. (The company disbanded its PR department years ago and doesn’t typically respond to reporter questions.) The issue itself may be that the accelerator pedal is prone to getting stuck. A Cybertruck owner posted a video to TikTok showing how their accelerator pedal cover got stuck and “held the accelerator …
