The cyclone has led to the suspension of several services and major disruptions across the region. A low-density vehicular movement was noticed in the state capital, while a few people were spotted in the Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bus Terminal in the city, airport and railway station. Image Source : X Representative Image Cyclone Dana LIVE Updates: Cyclone ‘Dana’ has formed over the east-central Bay of Bengal and is set to make landfall as a severe cyclonic storm along the Odisha coast, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). The cyclone is predicted to bring wind speeds of 100-120 kmph expected to strike on the night of October 24 which is likely to bring widespread impact to the region. The cyclone will be accompanied by heavy rainfall along the eastern coast of India, especially in Bengal and Odisha. In response to the approaching storm, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has deployed 56 teams across five states, including Odisha and West Bengal.  Source link

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday said a cyclonic storm names ad Cyclone Dana is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal by October 23 and the coastal region of Odisha is likely to receive heavy rainfall till October 25. This is because a cyclonic circulation over the Andaman sea on Monday intensified into a low-pressure area and is likely to turn into a cyclonic storm by October 23. The IMD in a special message said the cyclonic circulation over North Andaman Sea and adjoining Bay of Bengal has formed a low-pressure area over the eastcentral Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Andaman Sea in the early morning. “It is very likely to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a depression by October 22 morning and into a cyclonic storm by October 23, over eastcentral Bay of Bengal,” the IMD said.
