Heavy rain triggers landslide in Mangaluru; three killed, three others injured

Three members of a family, including two young girls, lost their lives after a rain-triggered landslide destroyed their house in Mangaluru early on Wednesday. Three other family members were rescued from the debris and are undergoing treatment in hospital, as per PTI. The incident took place behind the Kankanady Police Station in the Nagori area after heavy overnight rainfall caused a section of a nearby hill to collapse, burying the house under a large mound of soil.  Rescue teams race against time Six members of the family were trapped when the house collapsed. Local residents were the first to rush to the spot, followed by personnel from the Fire and Emergency Services and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), who carried out rescue operations, reported the news agency. Three people were pulled out alive and shifted to a nearby hospital. The victims who died in the incident have been identified as Shanta (46), her eight-year-old daughter Anamika Chaurasia, and four-year-old daughter Pari. The SRIVANI booking portal is fully secure and cannot be hacked or illegally infiltrated under any circumstances, the TTD said. However, it acknowledged that certain brokers and organised intermediaries were attempting to misuse advanced technologies, including AI-driven auto-filling and rapid auto-copying tools, to gain an unfair advantage during the booking process.
