Man gets 2 years in jail for hoax call warning threat to lives of PM Modi, UP CM Yogi | Mumbai News

A magistrate court sentenced a 29-year-old man to two years in jail for making a hoax call to the Mumbai police control room warning of a “threat” to the lives of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in 2023. “It is clear from the evidence given by the prosecution that the accused tried to disturb social harmony by placing the threats to the main control room,” the court said. The Esplanade magistrate court on March 28 found Kamran Khan, a resident of Chunabhatti, guilty under section 505 (2) (statements creating or promoting enmity, hatred or ill-will between classes) and 506 (2) (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
