The match arrives at a point where both sides are level on eight points from nine matches, separated mainly by net run rate. CSK are placed above DC because of a better NRR. The result will directly affect the middle of the points table. Neither side has created distance from the chasing pack, and both teams enter the fixture with four wins and five defeats. The match is therefore less about rhythm and more about staying alive in the playoff race before the final stretch of league games begins. Both teams coming into the clash have won their previous encounter, and in a pivotal stage of the tournament, would want to continue the winning run. The Capitals, after a dip in form, have made a strong comeback in the previous match against the Rajasthan Royals. Mitchell Starc, making a comeback, picked up 3/40, and with the bat, KL Rahul and Pathum Nissanka did the job. Unless there is an injury concern or conditions so different from Jaipur, it is difficult to see a change for the Capitals. As per Chennai, their campaign too has not taken a clear direction; they have been wandering with a win here, a loss there, sometimes looking and at times not so. With Ruturaj Gaikwad coming into some sort of form, …

The five-time champions’ bowling coach Eric Simmons told the media on Monday that the talismanic former captain hasn’t travelled to the national capital for the game that will be played on Tuesday, thus possibly making it the 10th match that Dhoni has missed this season. CSK are currently placed sixth on the league table, having picked themselves up after a rather disastrous start in which they suffered with three back-to-back defeats. CSK had revealed ahead of their season opener that Dhoni had been ruled out for the first two weeks with a calf injury. Since then, the 44-year-old underwent a fitness test, cleared it and joined the team to the away trips to Hyderabad and Mumbai. However, despite travelling with the team and practicing regularly, Dhoni has stayed away from the dugout on match days. More to come…   Disclaimer: We do not …

‘I now realise T20 cricket’s changed’: KL Rahul’s impresses mentor Kevin Pietersen with ‘intent’, credits Abhishek Nayar for improving white-ball game | Ipl News

“Watching KL Rahul bat in the Powerplays is the most boring thing I have ever been through.” Back in 2023, former England batter Kevin Pietersen had this to describe the India batter’s approach to T20 batting with Lucknow Super Giants on commentary. However, it is a rejuvenated Rahul that has been on display in white-ball cricket this year, starting with India’s Champions Trophy series and now the IPL 2025 season, where the 32-year-old has started his Delhi Capitals stint with a flourish. Pietersen, now a mentor for Rahul at DC, is impressed with the Karnataka batter’s change of guard and mindset, which was evident during his match-winning 77 off 51 balls on a tacky Chepauk pitch against the Chennai Super Kings on a scorching Saturday afternoon. Rahul’s knock would help DC set a hefty 183 for six batting first before the bowlers restricted CSK for a 25-run win. Story continues below this ad Talking post-match, Pietersen lauded Rahul’s intent and said: “Your intent in Vizag, you struck at 300 and I was happy with you. …

DC get off the mark as Rishabh Pant finds his groove and MS Dhoni’s blaze falls short for CSK | Ipl News

Synopsis: Throwback Dhoni and magical Pathirana thrust to defeat by a back-to-near best Pant and a utilitarian bowling group Hope buzzed. The past flickered. For 20-odd minutes, this was 2005 Visakhapatnam again. A dashing young batsman, with hair like peaceful waves, would shred the bowlers to all parts of the ground and enter the heart, head and consciousness of a nation. The hair still flowed, the bat still whirled. Dhoni carved Anrich Nortje for a one-handed six, he clumped Khaleel Ahmed for a six over extra cover, he pulled and heaved, generated thunderous power and had the crowd in pure raptures. Yet, he lost, if at all that matters. He almost rendered the result inconsequential—the spectators would take home the Dhoni blaze, even though his knock could not deny Delhi Capitals a 20-run win and first points of the season. Unfashionable, utilitarian The ensemble cast of Delhi Capital bowlers looks unfashionable, comprises of castaways, outliers and part-timers. Apart from Anrich Nortje, none evokes fear, forget dread. But on Sunday, their spectacular collectivism dismantled CSK’s ammo-packed …

‘Prithvi Shaw’s knock came from hurt within’, ‘Let’s hope that hunger stays’: Cricketers react to DC star’s knock | Cricket News

Prithvi Shaw spent the first two matches of Delhi Capitals’ IPL 2024 season out of the playing XI, but was finally recalled into the team for the game against the Chennai Super Kings at the ACA-VDCA stadium in Visakhapatnam on Sunday. And he made his chance count, scoring a 27-ball 43, a knock which was studded with four boundaries and two sixes. Prithvi was among the four players who were retained by Delhi Capitals ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction. But he was dropped by the franchise mid-way into IPL 2023. Coming into Sunday’s game, Prithvi had one half-century in his last 14 IPL innings. In fact, he was not even part of the match squads for their first two games. That hurt of being dropped for the first two games would have fueled his innings on Sunday, reckoned Virender Sehwag. “Team managements will always look at whether a player is in rhythm or not in the nets when they’re batting. This innings will remind Prithvi how important an innings like this was for …

Rishabh Pant slammed his first fifty of IPL 2024 against Chennai Super Kings as the Delhi Capitals captain signalled his comeback to form at Visakhapatnam on Sunday. Pant got to his 50 off just 31 balls before getting out in the next ball itself while attempting to his Matheesha Pathirana for a chip straight down the ground.
