A 55-year-old labourer was killed and two others were injured after a boundary wall and an adjoining storage room collapsed during rainwater drain and sewage line construction work at Lodhi Crematorium in Delhi’s Lodhi Colony area early on Friday, police said. The incident took place at 1.08 am when excavation and pipe-laying work was being carried out by the Public Works Department (PWD) using a JCB and a Hydra machine, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Hemant Tiwari said. A 22-year-old man died and two others sustained injuries following a collision between a motorcycle and a car in East Delhi’s Krishna Nagar early on Monday, police said. The incident was reported around 4.10 am, police said, adding that officers found both the two-wheeler and the red car on the spot. Officers said that Sehbaaj, a resident of Khureji who was riding the two-wheeler, was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead. His cousin Sameer, who was riding pillion, is currently undergoing treatment, they also said. The driver of the Maruti Swift, identified as Rishabh from Sangam Vihar, was admitted to the hospital with injuries. Another occupant of the car allegedly fled after the crash and is yet to be traced, officers said. Police added that a case has been registered for rash and negligent driving causing death. A day after a 28-year-old man died in a collision on Ring Road when an Audi car jumped the divider and crashed into his Ertiga, Delhi Police said on Sunday they arrested the man who drove the Audi during the incident. Surendra Choudhary, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Southwest, said, “After analysing approximately 50 CCTV cameras, a police team made a route and chased for around 60 km and arrested the accused.” The accused, Paras Pathaniya, 25, is a resident of Paschim Vihar and had fled the accident spot. The victim, Sukhjit, a resident of Hisar in Haryana, was travelling from Dhaula Kuan towards South Extension when the Audi, coming from the opposite direction, veered off course, crossed the divider and collided head-on with Sukhjit’s SUV around 6.30 am on Saturday. Two men were killed after their motorcycle was hit by a truck in Kashmere Gate area in the early hours of Saturday, said police, adding that the truck driver has been arrested. According to police, the duo — Piyush and Ankur — was returning from Haridwar in Uttarakhand on their motorcycle when the incident took place. Their two other friends were travelling on a separate bike, they added. The accident occurred near Hanuman Mandir Flyover Ring Road after a truck hit the victims’ two-wheeler from behind, leaving both of them injured, said police.
