Delhi air quality: Several flights were diverted at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport due to low visibility conditions on Wednesday morning (November 13). The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said very dense fog began forming around 5:30 am. There were low visibility conditions in the city. The official said some flights have been diverted due to low visibility. As per airport sources, due to dense fog resulting in low visibility at Delhi Airport (IGI), 8 flights were diverted since 7:00 am. Delhi air pollution (Photo: PTI) The national capital woke up to the Diwali week on Monday with the ‘Very Poor’ air quality as the overall AQI was recorded at 330 at 7 am in the city, as per SAFAR data. Several areas in the capital saw the air quality of over 300 points while some also saw the AQI above 350. The AQI had improved to the ‘Poor’ category on Saturday, however, it again slipped to the ‘Very Poor’ section the next day and continued to remain so on Monday morning. The hazardous air quality was recorded in the beginning of the week in which Diwali will be celebrated on October 31. The Centre has implemented stage two of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). The air quality in Delhi remained in the ‘very poor’ category on Wednesday. The Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 349, according to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR). Jahangirpuri area in the national capital was the worst affected as the AQI there was at 417, SAFAR data showed. The AQI at Anand Vihar was recorded at 402.
