New Delhi: Hours after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) alleged that BJP workers were accompanying poll officials to the homes of the elderly during the ‘vote-from-home’ exercise, the Chief Electoral Officer has responded that candidates of all parties or their representatives are allowed to join election officials on these home visits. The ruling AAP has shared a video of an elderly woman talking about her ‘vote from home’ experience. In the video, the authenticity of which NDTV cannot verify, the woman is heard saying that five people, including BJP members, were with the poll officials who visited her home. Sharing the video on X, AAP alleged that the BJP, along with the Election Commission, was snatching the voting rights of the people of Delhi. “Today, BJP workers accompanied poll officials during the ‘vote-from-home’ exercise for the elderly. EC Directs Delhi CEO To Ensure Proper Electoral Roll Revision Ahead Of 2024 Polls

Last Updated:December 14, 2024, 00:05 IST The Commission reminded the CEO of Delhi that no deletion of names from electoral rolls can take place without filing the stipulated Form-7 The Election Commission of India. The Election Commission (EC) on Friday wrote to the Delhi CEO directing the authority to “scrupulously” follow the process for deletion and revision of the electoral rolls by conducting proper enquiry and involvement of various political parties in the run up to the assembly polls next year. The Commission also shared with the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) a representation received by it from the BJP seeking removal of names of illegal and temporary migrants and ‘ghost’ voters during the special summary revision (SSR) for 2025. It also reminded the Delhi election authority of a Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) representation, shared with the Delhi CEO earlier, regarding “threat of mass voter deletion” in the state.
