Delhi HC seeks Centre, Delhi govt's reply on PIL over Sonam Wangchuk's health

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday sought responses from the Union Government and the Delhi Government on a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking immediate medical intervention for climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has been on an indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar since June 28. A Division Bench of Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyay and Justice Tejas Karia issued notices to the respondents after hearing preliminary submissions and listed the matter for further hearing on Thursday. Court takes up plea citing urgent health concerns The PIL was heard after petitioner Rakesh Kumar Saini, appearing virtually as petitioner-in-person, requested urgent consideration of the matter, citing Wangchuk’s deteriorating health. Delhi HC recognises ‘right to be forgotten’, directs search engines to disable ‘name-based’ search in court orders, news

Recognising an individual’s “right to be forgotten”, the Delhi High Court has ruled that search engines like Google cannot be perpetually permitted to show judicial records in name-based search for a case which is private in nature or has ended in an acquittal, discharge, quashing or settlement. Giving relief to a group of petitioners, the court ordered authorities, search engine operators and legal database platforms to de-index and disable their “name-based search functionality” in respect of judgments, orders and news articles cited by the petitioners. File photo used for reference (PTI) Security agencies went on alert on Tuesday after multiple Delhi court complexes received a bomb threat, prompting checks and heightened deployment across Tis Hazari, Saket, Dwarka, Patiala House and Rohini courts. Police sources said the threat email was sent from the ID [email protected]. The message, written in broken language, claimed that “this is a fight of Allah vs Bharat Allah” and accused the courts of “doing injustice,” triggering immediate scrutiny by security agencies. Sources stated that, unlike previous threat emails sent to court complexes or schools, this message was addressed directly to the Delhi Police. Officials said the email was also marked to the PDG (Principal Director General) of the Press Information Bureau (PIB).
