With the BJP leadership yet to announce its Chief Minister choice, multiple names are doing the rounds. Among them are some who are not MLAs. Amid the suspense, sources in the party have said the next Delhi Chief Minister will be from among the MLAs. A former two-time MP from West Delhi, he is the son of former Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma. Other names doing the rounds are former Delhi BJP chief and newly elected Malviya Nagar MLA Satish Upadhyay, senior party leader Vijender Gupta, newly elected Janakpuri MLA Ashish Sood and Uttam Nagar legislator Pawan Sharma. Delhi Won, Parvesh Verma Shares Clip Of Arvind Kejriwal’s Dare To PM Modi

New Delhi: A day after the BJP scored a thumping victory in the Delhi Assembly election and ended the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) 10-year-rule, newly elected BJP MLA Parvesh Verma launched a shayari attack on AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal. A video he shared on X shows Mr Kejriwal’s speech before the election in which he challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “I want to challenge Modi ji, you cannot defeat AAP in Delhi in this birth. You would have to be reborn,” the AAP leader is heard saying. The video then shows Prime Minister Modi delivering a speech and targeting AAP with his “AAPda” jab. “There is only one chorus in Delhi. We will not tolerate AAPda, we will bring change,” he says. The video then shows the seat tally after the counting, showing BJP with 48 seats and AAP with 22. “इक शख्स जो यहां तख्त नशीं था,उसको अपने खुदा होने पे बहुत यकीं था।” pic.twitter.com/pOIKsuxrlZ — Parvesh Sahib Singh (@p_sahibsingh) February 9, 2025 Mr Verma captioned the 33-second video with the lines, “Ik …

Ex Comrade Blames Arvind Kejriwal For Delhi Loss

As the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) licks its wounds after the Delhi drubbing, its now-expelled co-founder and lawyer Prashant Bhushan has held his estranged brother-in-arms and AAP’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal responsible for the poll debacle. In a post on X, Mr Bhushan accused Mr Kejriwal of changing the nature of AAP after it was founded as a transparent and democratic platform for alternative politics. “A party formed for alternative politics which was supposed to be transparent, accountable & democratic was quickly transformed by Arvind into a supremo dominated, non-transparent and corrupt party which didn’t pursue a Lokpal and removed its own Lokpal,” said Mr Bhushan. How Owaisi Factor Played Out In Delhi Election

How Owaisi Factor Played Out In Delhi Election

New Delhi: If the failure of AAP and the Congress to join hands for the Delhi Assembly election helped the BJP score a decisive victory, a Hyderabad factor, too, made its presence felt in the capital contest. The Asaduddin Owaisi-led All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) did not win any seat, but both its candidates finished second runners-up. In one of the seats, the division of votes paved the way for BJP’s win in a constituency with a significant minority population. AIMIM fielded two candidates in the Delhi election — Shifa Ur Rehman Khan from Okhla and Tahir Hussain from Mustafabad. Both its candidates have been named as accused in cases linked to the 2020 Delhi riots and are currently in jail. Both the AIMIM candidates managed to push the Congress to the fourth spot and finished third. In Okhla, AAP leader and sitting MLA Amanatullah Khan won by 23,639 votes. The BJP’s Manish Chaudhary finished second and Shifa Ur Rehman Khan, currently in Tihar Jail, got 39,558 votes. The Congress’s Ariba Khan got 12,739 votes. …

BJP’s Capital Gain AAP-ends Arvind Kejriwal

How AAP-Congress Feud Split Opposition Votes

How AAP-Congress Feud Split Opposition Votes

As the BJP scored a massive win in Delhi, ending the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) 10-year rule in Delhi, a key question is doing the rounds. Did the Congress’s solo show in Delhi hurt AAP’s prospects, dividing the Opposition votes and making the road to victory easier for the BJP? According to the Election Commission data, AAP got 43 per cent of the vote share, while the BJP cornered 45 per cent. The Congress got 6 per cent of the vote share but won zero seats. So, an AAP-Congress alliance could have kept the BJP in the Opposition. However, local rivalries and both parties’ reluctance to reach an agreement ruled out this possibility. Also, the AAP-Congress alliance during the 2024 Lok Sabha polls did not yield good results for the Opposition and BJP won all seven Delhi seats.  While the AAP has accused the Congress of speaking in the same language as the BJP, the Congress has said it was not its responsibility to ensure AAP’s win. It must, however, be kept in mind that …
