Thirty to thirty-five minutes were wasted after the fire broke out at Baby Care New Born Hospital in Vivek Vihar on Saturday night. During this time, two men inside the premises — including Dr Akash who was on duty at the time — ran out on seeing a spark at 10.55 pm. The first calls to the Police Control Room (PCR) and fire department were made at 11.29 pm by a passerby. This is what the Delhi Police said they found from CCTV footage recovered from the hospital. Six newborns were killed in the incident. A senior officer said, “CCTV footage showed a person, possibly the driver of the owner of the centre, Dr Naveen Khichi, and Dr Akash sitting in the reception area, which is next to the main gate… They noticed a spark in one of the wires and ran outside… the fire started at 10.55 pm.
