Trinamool Congress’s Lok Sabha member Mahua Moitra on Thursday alleged that she faced harassment from a group of men onboard an IndiGo flight while travelling to Delhi to attend a meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence. Mahua Moitra alleged that men heckled her and filmed the episode. A Delhi-bound Air India Express flight from Bagdogra, carrying 148 passengers, was forced to make an emergency landing at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow after a mid-air smoke alert, according to news agency PTI. (Reuters) The report stated that the flight, IX1523, was diverted to Lucknow on Monday evening after the pilot issued a ‘Mayday’ call, which is an internationally recognised distress signal used in life-threatening situations. At least 30 quintals of ganja worth Rs 6.2 crore was seized from a Delhi-bound truck in Morena district of Madhya Pradesh, and its driver was arrested, police said on Friday. The vehicle coming from Maharashtra was intercepted near Savitapur located under the Civil Lines police station area of Morena late Thursday night, Superintendent of Police Sameer Saurabh told PTI. “The police had received a tip-off that a huge consignment of ganja was being transported secretly in a truck from Nashik (in Maharashtra) that was going to the national capital,” he said. The contraband was concealed under sacks of fodder and being smuggled to Delhi, he added. “The seized contraband was worth Rs 6.2 crore,” he said, adding that the truck carried a Chhattisgarh registration number. “Truck driver Samu Yadav, who hails from Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh, was detained and later placed under arrest on Friday. (Representational) Aligarh: Two men were arrested for lighting a bonfire in a running train after a gateman alerted authorities to smoke emanating from a compartment of the New Delhi-bound Sampark Kranti Superfast Express, averting a major disaster. According to an official of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Aligarh, the incident occurred on January 3 night when the gateman posted at a railway crossing near Barhan railway station observed a flash of light and smoke from a coach of the train which was coming from Assam. He immediately informed his superiors at the Barhan railway station after which an RPF team arranged for the train to be stopped at the next station Chamraula.
