The election commission has directed the district election officers (DEOs) of two districts in West Bengal to book four government officials and a data entry operator, for adding names of fictitious voters in the electoral roll and compromising data security, in August 2025. The poll panel, during a sample checking of applications from new voters in the state, had found that the two EROs accepted a large number of Form 6 from alleged fictitious voters, officials aware of the developments said. The park, spread across 13.5 acres, marks a historic stride in India’s ambitions to become a global digital powerhouse. The Data Center Park will include a 2.7-hectare area developed as a Special Economic Zone (SEZ). Operated by RackBank Datacenters Private Limited, the project is fully dedicated to AI-based services. A probe has been ordered against two private schools in Ahmedabad in connection with the children, admitted under the Right to Education (RTE) Act, being “deliberately detained”, officials familiar with the matter said on Thursday. The Ahmedabad District Education Officer (DEO) Wednesday directed the Education Inspector (EI) concerned to probe Tripada English School, Ghatlodiya, and Zydus School, Vejalpur, after allegedly receiving complaints from a “couple of parents” whose wards have been admitted under RTE Act’s 25 per cent reservation in private schools. DEO Ahmedabad city R M Chaudhary told The Indian Express: “A few parents had reached out to the office and complained that these (private) schools have deliberately detained their wards.” Story continues below this ad As per the complaints received, students of Class 5 and 8 have been allegedly detained as they were unable to clear their final exams.
