Authorities have also been asked to conduct a statewide verification drive. The move comes after the Karnataka High Court pulled up the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) and the State Government for failing to effectively identify illegal immigrants, asserting the issue must be “nipped in the bud” as it poses a threat to national security. The government has directed the police to trace illegal Bangladeshis and other undocumented immigrants across the state. On Monday, Parameshwara announced in the Karnataka State Assembly that a special drive would be initiated to track and identify Bangladeshis and other immigrants. “I have told police officers to take the drive to identify and deport the Bangladeshis.
