India’s Devika Sihag registered an upset win over world No 16 Supanida Katethong of Thailand in the quarter-finals of the 2026 Thailand Masters Super 300 on Friday. Sihag, ranked 63rd in the world, took down the top seeded Katethong 21-19, 21-18 in straight games in front of the latter’s home crowd. The Indian shuttler didn’t have best of starts to the match, trailing 0-5 and then 1-7 in the opening game. A slew of unforced errors from Katethong helped Sihag claw her way back to level at 9-9. From there on, there was no looking back. Though Katethong kept her in check for a major part of the match, Sihag managed to hold her nerves at crucial moments to wrap up a win in 40 minutes over the former world No 6. Devika Sihag emerged as the National Champion In women’s singles at the Bangalore Senior Nationals, in its 86th edition, after defeating upcoming talent Shriyanshi Valishetty 21-15, 21-16 at the Karnataka Badminton Association courts. Training at the Prakash Padukone Academy in Bangalore, the tall shuttler known for her reach and punch in her strokes, had scored some sterling wins this week, and continued her domination as she marched to the senior title on the back of her furious, attacking game. Haryana’s Devika Sihag ended the giant-killing run of Shriyanshi Valishetty to win the women’s singles crown.
