‘That has made a huge difference’

‘That has made a huge difference’

For years, T20 cricket kept moving further away from traditional bowling. Yorkers became the safest option, slower balls became essential, and mystery spin started dominating the middle overs. But Gujarat Titans (GT) have quietly built their IPL 2026 campaign on something far simpler – relentless hard lengths and what spinner R Sai Kishore called “having proper Test-match bowlers in your line-up”. That formula worked perfectly again on Tuesday night in Ahmedabad as Mohammed Siraj, Kagiso Rabada and Jason Holder ripped through Sunrisers Hyderabad to bowl them out for 86 in a crushing 82-run win. Siraj and Rabada blew away the top-order with movement and discipline before Holder kept tightening the screws through the middle overs. After the game, Sai Kishore explained how GT’s attack had succeeded this season by trusting simple, repeatable lengths instead of constantly searching for magic deliveries. “Overall, this season, I think Siraj and Rabada have been hitting their lengths very well. That is the advantage of having proper Test-match bowlers in your line-up, I guess,” Sai Kishore said in the post-match …

Why RCB, Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings at the IPL make a difference to merch vendors | Cricket News

Why RCB, Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings at the IPL make a difference to merch vendors | Cricket News

Outside the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, the evening builds gradually. It’s April 27 and chants of “RCB, RCB” rise from groups of supporters as they spill out of autos and the Delhi Metro. Between the sea of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Delhi Capitals jerseys at entry gates, along the pavement is a parallel economy. There are blue plastic sheets spread on the concrete path, jerseys and caps in neat piles while some are draped on shoulders as a waking advertisement. It’s a market that depends on these ardent, exuberant crowds, who have paid anywhere from Rs 1,400 to Rs over 2,500 for a ticket, but their margins as merch vendors are way narrower. For 28-year-old Maahi, who has been selling jerseys for nearly 10 years, the cricket leagues remain the most reliable period of business in the year. “If it’s a good match, I can earn Rs 2,000- 3,000,” she says, arranging a stack of RCB jerseys. Originally from Bihar, she moved to Delhi after her marriage about 12 years ago. “My husband …

Virat Kohli hails Devdutt Padikkal’s 55 off 27 in RCB’s win over GT: ‘His innings was the clear difference’ | Cricket News

Virat Kohli was named Player of the Match for his 81 off 44 balls against Gujarat Titans at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Friday. However, at the post-match presentation ceremony, Kohli was quick to turn the spotlight on his younger partner Devdutt Padikkal, whose explosive 55 off 27 balls set the tone for Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s successful 206-run chase against the Titans in an Indian Premier League group stage clash. While Kohli anchored the chase with his trademark control and acceleration, Padikkal’s early burst ensured RCB were never behind the rate, as the pair stitched together a 115-run partnership that effectively sealed the contest’s outcome. “I think Dev’s done this twice this season, where he’s come in and absolutely played a blinder from ball one. You know, the first ball he hit off Rabada was magnificent, and he has the game awareness and the ability, especially in conditions like ours, to be able to play good cricketing shots and hurt opposition, striking over 200, which is quite rare, to be honest,” Kohli said at the …

‘No difference between Kauravas and Congress members’: M.P. CM on women’s reservation row

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav | Photo Credit: ANI Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Thursday compared the Congress party with the Kauravas from the Mahabharata over the defeat of the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill, which sought to make delimitation a prerequisite to implement the women’s reservation, in the Lok Sabha.  Addressing a government event in Sagar district’s Nariavali, Mr. Yadav slammed the Opposition party by alleging that it had “thwarted” Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s plans to empower women. On a knife edge – With Manchester City and Arsenal level on points and goal difference, the last five matches filled with intrigue and possibility

4 min readNew DelhiUpdated: Apr 23, 2026 08:03 PM IST Two teams, five games, 15 points — the math looks simple for Manchester City and Arsenal, level on points and goal difference after 33 matches in the English Premier League title race. It is a classic who-blinks-first narrative, intrigued by the possibility that neither might flinch yet see the title slip through the fingers. Weave in pressure, history, calendar and form, and the climax looks mouthwatering. City on top The Burnley scrape shot Manchester City to the top of the pile by virtue of the three goals they have netted more than Arsenal. It is one of the five differentials that decide the champion if teams are locked on the same number of points and goal difference at the end of the season. So rare is the possibility that there has been only one precedent of goals scored determining the winner in the English top division’s 136-year-old existence. It should please Arsenal, as they pipped Liverpool to the title in 1988/89 by virtue of having …

What’s the difference between Greco-Roman and Freestyle wrestling?

What’s the difference between Greco-Roman and Freestyle wrestling?

Wrestling, one of the oldest martial arts, has evolved as the most popular and widely practised combat sport globally, giving rise to numerous variations in other individual sports. Modern wrestling, also known as international wrestling, has been a permanent feature of the Olympic Games since the modern era, particularly in its two main disciplines: Greco-Roman and Freestyle. While the ultimate goal in the two disciplines is to finish with more points than your opponents at the final whistle, the two disciplines are still very different from each other. Here are a few differences between the two Olympic Styles of Wrestling: Style of Play The Greco-Roman wrestling style is more traditional, originating from the European folkstyle wrestling, restricting the grappler from any below-the-belt attack. A wrestler can’t attack the legs of their opponents or even use their own legs to apply an attack in Greco-Roman; instead, they have to use their upper-body strength to induce a take-down. On the other hand, freestyle wrestling allows you more of a free flow, and you can make any legal …

‘World of difference between PSL and international cricket’: Basit Ali puts Babar Azam’s century in context | Cricket News

3 min readUpdated: Apr 21, 2026 12:37 PM IST Peshawar Zalmi’s commanding 118-run victory, built on a Babar Azam century, drew warm praise from former Pakistan cricketers Basit Ali and Kamran Akmal on YouTube channel Game Plan — but both men were equally firm that the performance should not be used to settle debates about Babar’s international record. Basit called the innings among the finest in PSL history, citing the quality of the attack Babar had dismantled. “He faced two spinners and Alzarri Joseph — and Joseph is no ordinary spinner, he is a mystery spinner who has kept every batter under pressure in this tournament. That is the kind of century this was.” He added simply: “I was loving watching that batting.” The pair were particularly enthusiastic about Babar’s partnership with Kusal Mendis, which they said had transformed how Babar plays in the format. “When Mendis scored his hundred, Babar gave him big support. This time Babar scored the hundred and Mendis gave him big support,” Kamran said. “This combination is suiting Peshawar Zalmi …

Ravi Bishnoi explains where Rajasthan Royals won their IPL 2026 thriller against Gujarat Titans: ‘That made the difference between the two sides’ | Cricket News

3 min readApr 5, 2026 09:57 AM IST The Gujarat Titans batting unit comprises of more than one left-hander, and under such circumstances, it can become challenging for a leg-spinner to not just get wickets, but also control the flow of boundaries. Yet, Rajasthan Royals leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi, through a combination of skill and guile, managed to deliver one of the best spells of his IPL career, taking 4/41 in his four overs to help the visitors win by six runs. Despite his Player of the Match exploits, however, Bishnoi praised the pace trio of Sandeep Sharma, Jofra Archer and Tushar Deshpande for the way they executed with the ball in the death overs, admittng that, along with his performance, that proved to be the difference between victory and defeat in the end. “Sandy bhai (Sandeep Sharma) is a fabulous bowler, as we all know. But the way Jofra Archer and Tushar Deshpande executed their plans, I felt their execution was better in the last two overs. That made the difference between the two sides, …

AFC Asian Cup qualifier: Ryan Williams showed how a quality player can make a difference in Indian football | Football News

AFC Asian Cup qualifier: Ryan Williams showed how a quality player can make a difference in Indian football | Football News

More than the goal, Ryan Williams provided something to India that decades of grassroot football has not been able to — composure in the midfield. A left-winger for his club Bengaluru FC, Williams — on his debut for India after giving up his Australian passport and becoming the first naturalised player to play for the national team since Japan’s Arata Izumi more than a decade ago — scored within three minutes in Kochi. But in a 66-minute appearance that ended with him clutching his thigh and being taken out of the game, the 32-year-old had ensured that his adopted country had played its best football in the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers. In their five games before the one in Kochi, India did what India usually does. Select players, put them in positions that didn’t match their profile, and then expected the chaos of Indian grassroot, and then club football, to somehow miraculously disappear as soon as the national anthems were done. Ranked the best in a group of Singapore, Hong Kong and Bangladesh, the national …

Ashwin highlights defining difference between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma: ‘Centre stage vs effortless flair’

R Ashwin offered a sharp reading of two of Indian cricket’s biggest batting personalities on JioHotstar ahead of the Mumbai Indians’ IPL 2026 opener against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium. With Virat Kohli having already opened the season in commanding style for Royal Challengers Bengaluru a night earlier, and Rohit Sharma stepping back into the spotlight for Mumbai, Ashwin’s comparison carried more weight than routine pre-match chatter. Kohli had just made an unbeaten 69 off 38 balls in RCB’s six-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad, while Rohit was preparing to begin another season in which his role, intent and method remain central to Mumbai’s batting identity. Rohit Kohli for Mumbai Indians and Virat Kohli for Royal Challengers Bengaluru. (AFP/PTI) Ashwin’s statement captured the difference in how the two have long approached T20 batting. “Look, I think contrasting personalities in many ways. Virat loves to make those runs. He wants to be the center stage. He wants to do things in a certain way. While Rohit is slightly different, he loves to be a …
