India scripted history at the 2025 Tokyo Deaflympics, securing a record-breaking haul of 20 medals and achieving their highest-ever sixth place on the medal tally in Japan on Tuesday. A tally of 9 Gold, 7 Silver, and 4 Bronze medals helped India to overtake their previous best finish of 9th place from the 2022 Brazil Deaflympics. The shooters carried the Indian contingent in Tokyo, winning 80 per cent of the overall medals for the nation, having won 16 medals – 7 Gold, 6 Silver, 3 Bronze. Meanwhile, India’s only Olympian in the contingent, Diksha Dagar, bagged her second Deaflympics gold medal in the women’s Individual golf category. Diksha Dagar makes golf history on the Ladies European Tour

India’s Diksha Dagar on Friday entered a rather unique club when competing at the Joburg Ladies Open 2025 in South Africa on Friday. Making her 121st Ladies European Tour (LET) appearance, Dagar carded a 71 in round 1 and was one-over par in round 2 at the time of writing this. Diksha Dagar finishes runner-up at Lalla Meryem Cup

India’s Diksha Dagar finished at the Lalla Meryem Cup in the Ladies European Tour on Saturday. Dagar had to settle for the second spot after a dramatic play-off loss to England’s Cara Gain er. The duo had finished level with a score of nine-under par in the competition. The 24-year-old Dagar, however, faltered in the play-off hole as she registered a bogey as opposed to Gainer’s birdie to surrender the title. Dagar and Gainer were level on terms heading into the last nine holes in the competition. The Indian birdied in the 11th and 13th holes but bogeyed in the 14th before Gainer hit a hat-trick of birdies prior to the final hole. Diksha Dagar, who last week became the first Indian golfer to tee off in a 100 Ladies European Tour event, will be on a packed European sojourn with an eye on securing crucial points in her bid to qualify for the Paris Olympics 2024 in July-August. The 23-year-old made her Olympics debut in Tokyo in 2021 alongside Aditi Ashok. Starting this week at the Amundi German Masters in Berlin, ‘centurion’ Diksha will participate in at least nine events, almost all in Europe, to prepare for the Summer Games. “All events from here on will be like an Olympics for me,” Diksha said during a Fit India Champions podcast. The women’s quota places for the Paris Olympics will be announced on June 24. The left-handed golfer is the only one to have played an Olympics for the able-bodied and two Deaflympics (for the hearing impaired).
