Mohanlal to join forces with Maheshinte Prathikaram director Dileesh Pothan; Lucifer 3 on the cards | Malayalam News

Putting an end to years of speculation, an official confirmation has arrived that Mohanlal will soon join forces with celebrated filmmaker Dileesh Pothan. The Malayalam superstar’s close friend and frequent collaborator, producer Antony Perumbavoor, revealed this on social media. He also confirmed that the third instalment in the Lucifer franchise will happen. “We are doing a film produced by Shibu Baby John, which will be directed by Dileesh Pothan. It has been finalised,” Antony noted in response to a fan’s query. “We are actively trying to avoid projects that fans have no interest in watching. Good films are on the way,” he added. Oru Durooha Saahacharyathil review: Too much experimentation ruins this film, held together only by Kunchacko Boban, Dileesh Pothan | Movie-review News

Oru Durooha Saahacharyathil movie review: When the movie opens, one is bound to get the feeling that the Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval directorial might follow the narrative style of movies such as director Khalid Rahman’s Mammootty-led Unda (2019) or Amit V Masurkar’s Rajkummar Rao-starrer Newton (2017). In the village of Thirunelli, located near the forests in Wayanad, a team of armed personnel, led by Armiyas (Chidambaram), has surrounded a resort after receiving intel that a group of Maoists has entered the premises. Along with tension, the writer-director also slips in comedy, setting a unique mood. However, once the opening sequence is over, it doesn’t take Oru Durooha Saahacharyathil (Under Mysterious Circumstances) much time to make it clear that it’s nothing like Unda or Newton. In fact, it treads a path marked by character-driven storytelling that few in Malayalam may have taken. However, the question that remains is whether it has succeeded. Vaghachipani movie review: Dileesh Pothan’s film offers a striking portrayal of how far people will go to retain power | Movie-review News

Vaghachipani movie review: There were quite a few instances when director Natesh Hegde’s Vaghachipani (Tiger’s Pond) reminded me of Adoor Gopalakrishnan’s Malayalam classic Vidheyan (1994). Not that I felt the former was copied from the latter; rather, it left me ruminating on how the stories of the oppressed, and of oppression itself, remain the same across regions, cultures, and even decades. Power continues to be the impetus that drives human beings, and to cling to it, they will do the unimaginable — even to those whom all believe they will never hurt. Vaghachipani, which was recently screened at the 30th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK), also explores the dilemma of who should be punished: the hand that acted or the mind that directed it. In place of Vidheyan’s Bhaskara Pattelar (Mammootty), we have Prabhu (Achyut Kumar), and as his Thommy (MR Gopakumar) is Malabari (Dileesh Pothan). Interestingly, Natesh never reveals their actual names. Although almost all other characters are introduced with proper identities, Prabhu is Prabhu for everyone, and so is Malabari. As the …
