Deceased members’ cards used for food and drink purchases; a drone flown near the Prime Minister’s residence; members hired by the club for legal and other services; spiralling legal expenses; and, a long-serving auditor stepping down after raising concerns about access to records. These are among the several unresolved questions hanging over the Delhi Gymkhana Club, according to internal records reviewed by The Indian Express, even as the Government has asked the capital landmark to vacate its 27.3-acre plot for “strengthening and securing defence infrastructure” — a matter now in court. Club records also show that members have refused to approve its audited accounts while the Government-appointed administration continues to withhold a forensic audit it had commissioned shortly after taking charge in April 2022. This newspaper reviewed a draft report of that forensic audit — covering financial expenses during 2017-18 and 2021-22 — prepared by Baker Tilly Business Advisory Services and submitted by the administration in November 2022 to the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) as part of a quarterly status report. Introduced on June 1, 1930, by the Great Indian Peninsula (GIP) Railway, a precursor to Indian Railways, the Deccan Queen remains the only running passenger train in India with a dedicated dining car offering table service, setting it apart from an era of packaged, seat-delivered meals. Last month on March 27 the Central Railway unveiled a newly refurbished dining car fitted with improved interiors, modern furniture, and design elements inspired by traditional themes such as Warli art, blending heritage, aesthetics and modern comfort. ‘Sky dining’ experience goes awry in Kerala’s Munnar after crane glitch | India News

Four tourists were among those who got trapped in a sky dining tourist attraction near Kerala’s popular hill station, Munnar, after the crane that hoisted them to a height of 120 feet developed a technical glitch. The four are members of a family from Kannur district. The family and staff members of Southern Skies Aerodynamics, which runs the tourist attraction, were eventually rescued by fire and safety officials. The incident took place at noon, when the crane lifted the family into the sky. It got stuck in mid-air after its sensors developed a technical glitch. An official said the crane has a lifting capacity of 40 tonnes and that the sky dining facility can lift and accommodate 16 people at a time. The trapped persons were brought down using a rappelling system, which helps them climb down a rope that is fastened at the top. According to a member of staff who spoke to the media, there was no panic when the glitch occurred. She said they were trained to deal with such situations. News …
