EXCLUSIVE: Shah Rukh Khan and Siddharth Anand’s King spikes huge demand for India distributor; Gets an offer of Rs 200 crore advance

Earlier this week, Yash Raj Films was officially announced as the overseas distributor for King, produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures, and starring the father–daughter duo of Shah Rukh Khan and Suhana Khan. Following that, the trade is now abuzz with the talks of domestic distribution for the film. According to trade sources, multiple leading distribution studios are in contention for the India rights, including A.A. Films, Yash Raj Films (Distribution), Jio Studios, PVRINOX Pictures, Pen Marudhar and Dharma Productions. Among these, Pen Marudhar, Jio Studios and PVRINOX are understood to be the front-runners at this stage, although no formal announcement has been made yet. The proposed top offer is learnt to involve a Rs. 200 crore advance, along with an 8 per cent distribution commission, making it one of the largest commission-based offers in recent times. The commission-based distribution deal aligns with the prevailing industry norm, as in modern times, the acquisition model has taken a back seat. Most studios either have an in-house distribution team or are partners on a commission basis with independent distributors. Strengthening Pen …

Dhurandhar suffered at least ₹90 crore loss due to ban in Middle East, says distributor

Filmmaker Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar has shattered box office records, crossing $27 million in the overseas territories alone to emerge as the highest-grossing Indian film of 2025. However, the film’s overseas earnings could have been significantly higher had it not been banned in several Middle Eastern markets. In a recent interview with CNN-News18, Dhurandhar’s distributor, Parnab Kapadia, revealed that the ban resulted in a substantial financial loss. Dhurandhar lost 10 million dollars due to ban in Middle eastern markets. Impact of Dhurandhar’s ban in the Middle East Speaking about how the ban impacted the film’s international business, Parnab said, “I think this is at least a $10 million (around ₹90 crore) box office loss, because traditionally action films have always performed very well in the Middle East. Therefore, we strongly feel that the film should have received a release there.” He added, “At the same time, we have to respect the views, rules and regulations of every territory and country, as they have their reasons. We are not the first film to be denied a release; …

Dhurandhar distributor reveals North America contributed 60% of $26 million overseas gross, says the film had ‘all the ingredients to not work’ | Bollywood News

Who would have thought that Hindi cinema, after another fairly lukewarm year with tentpole films failing to fire, would end 2025 with a historic hit like Dhurandhar? The film, headlined by Ranveer Singh and directed by Aditya Dhar, has not only become the highest grosser of the year but has also broken multiple records, crossing the glorious 1000 crore mark globally. Speaking about its overseas business, the film’s distributor, Pranab Kapadia, recently remarked that, on paper, Dhurandhar was a film that should not have achieved such remarkable success abroad. In an interview with CNN News 18, Kapadia said, “It had all the ingredients before release that were not considered suited for overseas markets, the length of the film, the fact that it’s an action film. Traditionally, we’ve seen that romance works much better. Of course, there is a sizable audience outside the Indian community that watches Indian films, so you do expect it to do good numbers. But it is beyond anybody’s imagination or expectation that, as of today, 24 days into its box office …

‘Dhurandhar lost at least 10 million dollars,’ says overseas distributor due to ban in the Middle East | Bollywood News

It is needless to say that Dhurandhar has scripted history at the box office. The film has crossed the Rs 1,000 crore mark globally and is set to enter the Rs 1,100 crore club soon. While it continues to rewrite records at the domestic box office, its overseas performance has also shown no signs of slowing down. However, international earnings could have been significantly higher had Dhurandhar not been banned in several Middle Eastern markets. In a recent interview, the film’s overseas distributor Pranab Kapadia revealed that the ban across Middle Eastern countries resulted in a substantial loss to the Ranveer Singh-starrer’s potential overseas revenue. In the conversation with CNN-News18, Kapadia said, “I think this is at least a ten million dollar box office that we have lost, because traditionally action films have always performed very well in the Middle East. And therefore we feel that it should have gotten a a release. But, at the same time we have to respect the views and the rules and regulations of every territory and every country, …
