EA will skip next year’s F1 game and release update DLC instead

EA will skip next year’s F1 game and release update DLC instead

EA has announced some big changes for the future of its F1 racing series. Next year, instead of a new game, the company will opt to release a paid expansion for F1 25 as part of “a strategic reset for the F1 Franchise,” EA says. The next full F1 game, a “reimagined” experience, will arrive in 2027. The 2026 DLC for F1 25 is a “premium content update” that will “align with the sport’s major changes for the 2026 season, bringing fans new cars, sporting regulations, teams, and drivers,” according to EA’s press release. (F1 cars are in for some major changes next year that the DLC will presumably need to account for.) Timing and pricing for the expansion will be announced sometime in 2026. EA is vague on specific details about its plans for the 2027 game, but says it will be “a deeply authentic and innovative representation of the action and thrill of Formula 1, reimagined into a more expansive experience with new ways to play for fans around the world.” It’s described …

Star Wars Outlaws will get its next story DLC on May 15th

The expansion, free for Outlaws Season Pass holders and $14.99 otherwise, picks up after the base game’s main storyline. In the trailer, Vess breaks Hondo Ohnaka, a space pirate who first showed up in The Clone Wars animated series, out of jail and the two team up against an outfit called the Rokana Raiders and their leader, Stinger Tash. The DLC also adds the Miyuki Trade League, a new group that offers smuggling contracts that pay out in rewards for Vess’s ship, the Trailblazer. A Pirate’s Fortune also adds cosmetic items inspired by Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, including a speeder trophy and a new outfit for Nix, the adorable pet that accompanies main character Kay Vess throughout the game. And those who own the Ultimate and Deluxe Editions of the game will get Naboo Nobility and Desert Nomad cosmetic packs. This is the second story expansion for Outlaws since the game came out last year. Ubisoft brought smooth-talking smuggler Lando Calrissian into the game with its first DLC, Wild Card, back in November. Disclaimer: We …

Lies of P DLC to Launch in First Quarter of 2025, Neowiz Confirms Sci-Fi Survival Horror Project as Next Game

The planned DLC for Lies of P, the acclaimed action-RPG from Korean studio Neowiz Games, is coming next year. The expansion, first confirmed in November 2023, will launch in the first quarter of 2025, Neowiz reportedly confirmed Friday. The company also announced that the next game from Lies of P co-developer Round8 Studio would be a sci-fi survival horror project developed for PC and console platforms. Round8’s Next Project Neowiz’s announcement, reported by Korean outlet EBN, did not include a release date for the DLC. The studio has not yet shared details about the expansion, including its official title. But the company did shed some light on Round8 Studio’s next project. According to the announcement, the Lies of P co-developer’s next game will be “survival horror project” set in a “sci-fi universe”. The game will utilise Epic Game’s Unreal Engine 5 for development and will launch on PC and consoles. Round8 is reportedly hiring level designers and scenario planners for the project. “It’s too early to reveal the progress of the project,” a Neowiz official …

Vampire Survivors comes full-circle with Castlevania DLC expansion

Vampire Survivors comes full-circle with Castlevania DLC expansion

The world of Dracula and the Belmont family is coming to Vampire Survivors. The newly announced downloadable content for the auto-shooter survival game, Ode to Castlevania, promises a bunch of new stuff: 20 characters, 40 weapons, an extra-large stage, and over 30 music tracks. Developer Poncle said in its announcement post on X that the $3.99 expansion should contain more than 10 hours worth of gameplay — though it’s not clear if there will actually be any vampires in the game (I’m still betting there won’t be). The new Vampire Survivors DLC is set to launch on October 31st on the PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, PlayStation, Android, and iOS. You can also track its release with a cheesy, ‘90s-era countdown timer site set up by the developer. (Mind your speaker volume before visiting, as it auto-plays a short loop of some of the sick new music.) That’s a lot of Belmonts and friends.Image: Poncle Vampire Survivors first came out in 2021 with Castlevania-inspired sprite art the developer purchased from an asset pack, but now the …

Assassin’s Creed Mirage Will Not Get DLC, but Protagonist Basim’s Story Can Be Explored Further, Says Director

Assassin’s Creed Mirage launched in October last year, offering a pared back, back-to-the basics experience reminiscent of older games in the series. The action-adventure title from Ubisoft took players to 9th-century Baghdad, putting them in the shoes of Basim Ibn Ishaq, a street thief who joins the Hidden Ones and rises through the ranks to become a master assassin. While there’s no word on if the franchise will revisit the character again, Assassin’s Creed Mirage creative director has said that the team has ideas about where Basim’s story could go. In a Reddit AMA Wednesday, the game’s creative director Stéphane Boudon said that Basim’s story could be explored further, but not in the form of an expansion to AC Mirage. “We’re thrill [sic] by the reception of Mirage! Mirage as [sic] been design [sic] as a standalone experience without any DLC plan. However, we have ideas on how we could extend the story of Basim, surely,” Boudon said. He, however, reiterated that that Mirage would not be getting a post-launch story expansion. “But as of …

Final Fantasy XVI’s next DLC gets a trailer and a release date

Yesterday, Square Enix released a trailer for The Rising Tide, the next paid DLC for Final Fantasy XVI, and gave the expansion a release date: April 18th. The update to the PS5 game will be available as a single purchase add-on or in the $24.99 Final Fantasy XVI PlayStation Store Expansion Pass. And besides adding the eikon Leviathan to the game, other content introduces a game mode as well as new weapons and abilities. For no good reason, I haven’t played a new Final Fantasy game in years, but I trust Ash Parrish’s conclusion that the Leviathan being missing has been an error in need of correction. PlayStation’s blog post says in addition to fighting it in a new boss fight, Clive will get Leviathan Eikonic abilities, including summoning… Continue reading… Source link

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Gets New Game Plus, More Suits and a Developer Menu Bug That Hints at DLC in New Update

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has received the version 1.002.000 update, finally bringing the much-requested New Game+ mode, new suits for the two heroes, and a host of new quality-of-life features. The latest patch also adds the ability to replay missions, change the in-game time of day, and some handy accessibility options. The Spider-Man 2 update, however, has also brought an unintended bug. Developer Insomniac Games confirmed that the patch could grant players access to a development game menu, which could end up impacting save files and trophy progress. Insomniac detailed the new features in the version 1.002.000 release notes on Thursday, confirming that the update was live for PS5 users. The highlight, of course, is the New Game+ mode, which allows players who have completed the game to dive right back into the story with all their skill and gear upgrades intact. NG+ on Spider-Man 2 will come with Ultimate Levels, allowing players to go beyond the base game level cap in the mode. New Game+ will also unlock new symbiote suit styles with Ultimate Level …
