Sarvam cuts Vision AI model API prices by 67% as document digitisation crosses 35 million pages | Technology News

2 min readNew DelhiJun 1, 2026 11:32 AM IST Sarvam AI has reduced the pricing of its Sarvam Vision API by 67 per cent after the platform crossed 35 million pages in document digitisation, with the Bengaluru-based startup attributing the move to efficiency gains in its infrastructure. The revised pricing reduces the cost of Sarvam’s Vision API from Rs 1.5 per page to Rs 0.5 per page. Launched in February 2026, Sarvam Vision is a vision language model designed for document-related tasks such as converting physical documents into searchable digital records and automating document creation workflows. Increasing adoption among developers and enterprise partners has helped the platform digitise more than 35 million pages since launch, as per Sarvam. Sarvam, in a post on X on Friday, May 29, said more than 35 million pages have been digitised by developers and partners through the Sarvam Vision API. Kerala Police on Tuesday issued notices to social media users and asked platform X to remove posts related to an Election Commission of India (ECI) document that carried the seal of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which the state chief electoral officer called a “clerical error”. But with the sheer number of properties, officials say it is an uphill task. Officials told The Hindu that the thousands of properties must be uploaded and subsequently verified before the deadline. According to officials, the pressing concen stems from the fact that the erstwhile composite Medak district accounts for a particularly large number of waqf properties. The district alone, they said, has around 28,000 properties. Hyderabad also has a significant number of such properties that require documentation and verification. The Punjab government has cancelled the recruitment process for psychologists to be hired on a contract basis for de-addiction and rehabilitation societies under the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare, despite the written examination having been conducted and document verification already completed. In a letter dated Thursday (December 18), the Director, Health and Family Welfare, stated that the recruitment process has been cancelled for all 343 posts of psychologists with immediate effect owing to administrative reasons. Copies of the letter were sent to the Personal Assistant to the Punjab Health Minister and the Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, Punjab. The Registrar of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) has also been directed to inform the public about this decision through a public notice, as the advertisement for these posts was earlier published by the institute. The department further stated that all fees collected from candidates, including application and other recruitment-related charges, will be refunded. Even as the Congress denounced the Maharashtra government’s move to cancel all birth and death certificates issued merely on the strength of an Aadhaar card, the government Saturday made it clear that other document proofs carrying personal details are necessary for procuring birth and death certificates. ”Even if the citizen seeking birth and death certificates submits an Aadhaar card to the government office, they will have to tag along copies of school leaving certificate, electricity bill or ration card, which carry their personal details like name, address, age and the like,” said officials in the Revenue Department Saturday. On Thursday, Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, in a significant step to curb the menace of fraudulent birth and death certificates being used for illegal purposes, ordered the immediate cancellation of all suspicious certificates issued merely on the strength of an Aadhaar card and directed authorities to lodge police complaints without delay.
