Despite clear and repeated directions from the Supreme Court, Mohali continues to grapple with a growing stray dog menace, with little visible action on the ground. The failure of authorities to establish a dog shelter, even eight years after land was allotted, has raised serious concerns about public safety and administrative accountability. In 2018, the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) allotted 2.10 acres near Industrial Area Phase 3 to the Mohali Municipal Corporation (MC) to set up a dog shelter. As per the plan, one acre was to be developed as a park and one acre as a dog centre, but no construction or groundwork has begun to date.
