3 min readNew DelhiMay 29, 2026 03:03 PM IST A former train driver from China has unexpectedly found himself on Hollywood’s radar after creating a 3.5-minute AI-generated short film on a shoestring budget of just 3,000 yuan (around Rs 42,206). According to the South China Morning Post (SCMP), Liu Ziyu, 29, from Yunnan province, made the film, titled Zombie Scavenger, in only 10 days using AI tools. The Atompunk-inspired story, centred on a robot and a mannequin-like doll, draws comparisons to Pixar’s WALL-E. Released on Chinese social media platform Douyin on May 9, the entire project was produced with AI, while the small budget was spent mainly on software subscriptions and usage credits. The accident occurred at the Dingore village around 8 pm when the MSRTC bus on the Vitthalwadi-Pathardi route collided with the motorcycle near Jivandeep hotel on the Ahilyanagar–Kalyan highway. The police identified the deceased as Ashish Dhawalu Bhale, 24; Deepak Sakharam Bhale, 28; Shivram Narayan Pardhi, 26; and Khandu Narayan Bhale, 25, all residents of Dingore. Dnyaneshwar Bajigare, Assistant Inspector, said the victims were travelling from the Otur side to Dingore. They suffered severe injuries, leading to their deaths, the police said. Identified as Bijendra, the 60-year-old who worked as a security guard at the tempo stand was rushed to a nearby hospital by a team of officers where he was declared dead. As officers investigated the circumstances that led to his death, they found that he did not die in an accident. An SUV driver allegedly thrashed him and ran the vehicle over him twice, grievously injuring him, according to police. A murder case has been registered after CCTV footage police recovered contradicted initial findings, said officers. The Manjeswaram police have registered a case against two persons for allegedly threatening the driver of a pickup vehicle transporting cattle at Bayar, near the Karnataka border. The case was registered based on a complaint filed by Ibrahim Khalil. The police named Puneet as one of the accused, while another person is yet to be identified. According to the complaint, the incident occurred around 9 p.m. on Saturday (May 23, 2026) at Kallagadde. Mr. Khalil alleged that the accused threatened him, hurled abuses, and warned that cattle would not be allowed to be transported through the route. The Manjeswaram police have registered a case. Residents said similar incidents had occurred earlier in Bayar in the name of preventing alleged cattle smuggling.
