The Haryana government on Wednesday notified a one-time 75% waiver on interest for pending property tax dues, offering relief to thousands of property owners in Gurugram and other urban local bodies who clear their outstanding tax by 31 August. Officials said the move is aimed at encouraging voluntary compliance, resolving long-pending tax disputes. To avail of the concession, taxpayers will not only have to pay their outstanding tax but also complete the mandatory self-certification of their property details on the state’s NDC (No Dues Certificate) portal before the deadline. Image used for representational purposes only. | Photo Credit: PTI In a significant relief for thousands of former Jet Airways employees, the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) on Tuesday (June 30, 2026) upheld an NCLT order directing the airline’s liquidator to pay provident fund (PF) and gratuity dues to workmen and employees in full, dismissing appeals filed by the State Bank of India (SBI) and seven other financial creditors. The NCLAT also rejected the plea by the banks that payment of provident fund, gratuity and pension fund dues be part of the liquidation estate, where they would be subjected to competing claims from various creditors under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code’s (IBC) distribution mechanism. SBI and other banks had claimed that such an exclusion was contingent on the existence of a fund for PF and gratuity at the beginning of the liquidation which was not the case, but this premise was rejected by the NCLAT.  While upholding the NCLT’s February 4 order on PF and gratuity dues, the appellate tribunal also ordered that May …

Sudha Kongara alleges non-payment of dues for Parasakthi Bar and Bench reported that Sudha moved the HC under Section 9 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act. Screenwriters’ Association helps writers recover ₹60 lakh unpaid dues, most matters settled out of court

The Screenwriters Association’s (SWA) dispute resolution body has helped writers recover nearly ₹55 to 60 lakh in unpaid dues over the last six years, with the majority of cases settled internally, an official said. The Screenwriters’ Association of India handles around 50 cases annually. Facilitated recovery of ₹55 to 60 lakhs The Dispute Settlement Committee (DSC) of SWA, which has been functioning since 1954, handles around 50 cases annually, largely related to copyright infringement, payment delays and credit disputes between writers and filmmakers. “Over the last six years, the DSC has helped facilitate the recovery of approximately Rs. 55 to 60 lakhs in unpaid dues and settlements for writers,” Sweksha Bhagat, chairperson of the DSC, told PTI. She added that the majority of disputes are resolved through mediation, negotiation and settlement, with only a handful escalating to court cases. “In the last 15 years, only four matters, including Sujoy Ghosh, Jyoti Kapoor, Jannat 2, and Guzarish, have gone to court.
