Union Minister for Education Dharmendra Pradhan at the stall put up by the Andhra Pradesh School Education Department, at the AI Conclave in Delhi on Thursday. Union Minister for Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday appreciated the innovative initiatives introduced by the Government of Andhra Pradesh, including PAL Labs, the Mid-Day Meal programme, Clicker, Guaranteed FLN, Chatbot services, and AI-enabled face recognition system. A statement released by the Samagra Shiksha wing said the Minister, along with Secretary, Ministry of Education Sanjay Kumar, visited the special stall set up by the Andhra Pradesh School Education Department at the ongoing AI Conclave in New Delhi. Referring to the instance of a student of Bihar-origin who aced the Class 10 Tamil exam in the southern state this year, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that her story is an eye-opener for “those who are trying to create divisions on the basis of language”. Pradhan was speaking at an event on Monday to launch a Bharatiya Bhasha Summer Camp, which is being held in government schools this summer to expose children to the learning of Indian languages. He also launched learning material such as primers and special modules in Indian languages. He dedicated the event to D Jiya Kumari, the student from Bihar who scored 93 out of 100 in the Tamil exam of the Tamil Nadu state board. “We have seen this in the newspaper recently. She was born in Bihar, and her father moved to Chennai to earn a living 17 years ago. His three daughters have now learnt Tamil in school. Odisha govt introduces new colour code for all govt schools; details here

The Odisha government has revealed a new colour code for the buildings of all government schools, including PM SHRI schools across the state, according to an official statement. The Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA) has instructed all Collectors-cum-Chairman to implement the uniform colour code in all government schools. Under the BJD government, all government schools across Odisha were painted green, including official buildings. However, with the change in government, the colour of official buildings was altered to a light orange frost with an orange-tan border. In addition, the BJP government modified the colour and design of school uniforms for classes IX and X, changing them from green to light brown and maroon a few months after taking office. School project springs hope in ‘backward’ Uttar Dinajpur district in Bengal, makes learning interesting | Kolkata News

The Uttar Dinajpur district administration in West Bengal has undertaken the ‘GYANALAY’ project to improve government school infrastructure in a phased manner. In the first phase, initially, 98 schools were selected, which is one school in every gram panchayat. The figure has now risen to 200 schools. The authorities said that all 2,937 government and government-aided schools in the district will be brought under the project. As part of the initiative, the schools will get kitchen gardens, a 75-inch interactive display board, internet connectivity, libraries, and book banks, among others. Moreover, sports and leisure facilities, and toilets are being upgraded and RO water purifiers are being installed in school premises. Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy launching a website on an E-learning platform after the Department of Higher Education signed an MoU with edX, at his camp office at Tadepalli, near Vijayawada, on Friday. The Government of Andhra Pradesh signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with edX, a global E-learning platform that conducts Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), on February 16 (Friday). The MoU helps 12 lakh students pick and pursue their chosen verticals from more than 2,000 modern and emerging courses free of cost. The MoU was signed by the officials of the Higher Education Department and edX founder Anant Agarwal, in the presence of Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy at his camp office at Tadepalli, near here. The programme was virtually witnessed by the Vice-Chancellors and students of 26 universities.
