More than 10 attempts, no IIM goal: Inside the minds of educators who still write CAT | Education News

More than 10 attempts, no IIM goal: Inside the minds of educators who still write CAT | Education News

As discussions around CAT 2025 increasingly point to changing paper patterns and the growing presence of non-engineers among top percentile scorers, an unusual group continues to quietly walk into CAT exam centres every year — not as aspirants, but as educators. Across India’s CAT coaching ecosystem, several faculty members who train thousands of aspirants annually continue to register for and take the Common Admission Test (CAT) themselves. They are not chasing IIM admission letters or MBA seats. Instead, the exam serves as a diagnostic tool — a way to decode shifting trends, test classroom strategies, and experience, first-hand, the pressures their students face. Read More | CAT 2025: Four months of preparation to 99 percentile, how engineers Prateek Pradhan and Naitik Singhal cracked CAT For these tutors, CAT is no longer just an entrance test; it is part of their professional practice. “Would you eat food at a restaurant where the chef did not himself taste the food?” said Hriday GS, CAT educator, who is the director (Academics) at AnkGanit Solutions Pvt Ltd, and has been …

Teachers Trapped On ‘Animal Planet’: Educators Asked To Keep Out Stray Dogs, Even Venomous Wildlife | Education and Career News

Last Updated:December 11, 2025, 04:22 IST Officials behind these directives defend the measures as necessary for student safety and compliance with higher judicial or administrative mandates In Chhattisgarh, the state’s Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI) reportedly instructed teachers to actively prevent the entry of stray dogs—and even snakes, scorpions, and other venomous creatures—into school premises. Representational image A controversy has erupted over government authorities in some states issuing directives that push teachers into roles far outside the classroom. In parts of India, educators are being assigned duties ranging from monitoring stray dogs to guarding against venomous wildlife. In Jammu and Kashmir, teachers across government and private schools have reportedly been formally designated as nodal officers for monitoring and reporting stray dog populations. Under a new order, educators must coordinate with municipal and animal husbandry authorities and display their contact information for rapid response. For many teachers, the mandate felt surreal: the people trained to teach mathematics and literature are suddenly responsible for tracking feral dogs. Then in Chhattisgarh, the state’s Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI) reportedly …

TN teachers’ associations demand probe into POCSO cases against educators

TN teachers’ associations demand probe into POCSO cases against educators

The Teachers Joint Action Committee, comprising members from various teachers’ associations, has demanded a thorough investigation into recent cases filed under the POCSO Act against teachers on exam duty.  The demand follows multiple incidents, including the arrest of a 44-year-old teacher who was on invigilation duty for the Class 12 public examination in Krishnagiri. The teacher was reportedly taken into custody after a student accused him of misconduct. However, the associations claim that some teachers are being unfairly accused of harassment simply for reprimanding students caught engaging in malpractice during the examinations. In response, the committee has urged the School Education Department to install CCTV cameras in all examination halls for Classes 10, 11, and 12. According to the associations, the installation of cameras would ensure transparency, safeguard both students and teachers, and help determine the facts in such incidents. R. Srinivasan, State Legal Secretary of the Tamil Nadu Headmasters’ Association, reiterated the importance of CCTV surveillance. He said that it would be unfair if teachers are framed for misconduct while merely performing their duty …

World Teachers’ Day: Celebrate teachers and their role in transforming education

To celebrate all teachers across the globe, the World Teachers’ Day is observed every year on October 5. Since 1994, the World Teachers’ Day has been celebrated. World Teachers’ Day is co-convened in partnership with the International Labour Organization (ILO), UNICEF and Education International (EI). It commemorates the anniversary of the adoption of the 1966 ILO/UNESCO Recommendation concerning the status of teachers. The 1966 ILO/UNESCO Recommendation has set benchmarks regarding the rights and responsibilities of teachers, and standards for their initial preparation and further education, recruitment, employment, and teaching and learning conditions. In 1997, the Recommendation concerning the status of higher-education teaching personnel was adopted to complement the 1966 Recommendation. October 5 is a day to celebrate how teachers are transforming the education system and to reflect on the support they need to fully deploy their knowledge and vocational skills. The theme for this year’s World Teachers’ Day is “The teachers we need for the education we want: The global imperative to reverse the teacher shortage”. The aim this year is to put the importance …
