India beat defending champion Egypt; storms into first-ever final

India stunned defending champions Egypt to storm into the final of the 2025 SDAT Squash World Cup at Chennai’s Express Avenue Mall on Saturday. The hosts registered a hard-fought 3-0 win over Egypt to register their best-ever performance in the Squash World Cup, having already won a bronze in the 2023 edition. India will now play Hong Kong, China in the final. The top seeds came back from 2-0 down to draw against Japan and book a place in the final. National champion Velavan Senthilkumar stepped in for the hosts and was quick to give an early advantage with a commanding 3-0 (7-1, 7-3, 7-6) win against World No. 96 Ibrahim Elkabbani. The final game saw glimpses of fightback from Ibrahim and briefly led 6-5 in the third game, but Velavan, World no 45, was quick to recover and sealed the match. Seventeen-year-old Anahat Singh fought out a tense tie against the world No. 44, with the contest going down to the final game. Anahat beat Nour Heikal 3-2 (6-7, 7-5, 7-3, 3-7, 7-3) in …

Report pakistan operation sindoor pahalgam terror attack

New Delhi: In the wake of recent geopolitical developments that shifted Indian traveler sentiment dramatically, there has been a sharp 42 per cent decline in visa applications to Turkey and Azerbaijan, a report said on Tuesday. As both countries publicly expressed support for Pakistan, Indian travelers responded swiftly. Within just 36 hours, the number of users exiting the visa application process midway surged by 60 per cent, according to data provided by Atlys, a visa processing platform. “The reaction wasn’t scattered; it was sharp and behavioural. People didn’t need to be told to avoid certain destinations. They simply moved on, guided by instinct, information, and access to alternatives. That’s what modern travel looks like,” said Mohak Nahta, Founder and CEO of Atlys. In the same spirit, “we also paused all marketing efforts for Turkey and Azerbaijan, standing by India and in solidarity with national sentiment,” he added. Travelers from metro cities like Delhi and Mumbai showed a 53 per cent drop in Turkey-bound applications, while interest from tier 2 cities such as Indore and Jaipur …

Archaeologists Discover 4,400-Year-Old Tomb of Egyptian Prince in Saqqara

Archaeologists have unearthed a stunning 4,400-year-old tomb of an unknown Egyptian prince while digging at the old cemetery of Saqqara (roughly 30 km south of Cairo). The tomb is said to belong to Userefre (or Waser-If-Re) and is now recognised as a son of King Userkaf, Egypt’s Fifth Dynasty founder (c. 2465–2458 B.C.). The tomb’s most impressive element is its colossal pink granite false door—some 4.5 meters (14.8 feet) high and 1.2 meters (3.8 feet) wide—representing a gateway for the soul during and after death. The first of its kind to be discovered at Saqqara, this monumental pink granite false door indicates the prince’s elevated rank, excavation director Zahi Hawass told Live Science in an email. The expensive Aswan granite, generally reserved for the elite class, emphasises the prince’s exalted rank. Tomb Architecture and Inscriptions As per a report by LiveScience, Userefre’s tomb entrance was lavishly decorated in pink granite, and hieroglyphs on the false door enumerate his high-ranking titles, such as “Hereditary Prince,” “Governor of Buto and Nekheb,” “Vizier,” and “Royal Scribe.” The report …

The second phase of talks focuses on ending the war, securing the release of all surviving hostages in Gaza, and ensuring the withdrawal of Israeli troops from the region. The third phase would address the return of deceased hostages. Reaching a deal remains challenging as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu aims to dismantle Hamas’ governing …

Donald Trump reiterates plan to ‘relocate’ displaced Palestinians, says they would ‘love’ to leave

I would think that they would be thrilled. I don’t know how they could want to stay. It’s a demolition site,” Trump said. “The Gaza thing has never worked. If we could find the right piece of land, pieces of land, and build them some really nice places…I think that would be a lot better than going back to Gaza,” Trump added, ahead of a key meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House. Egypt and Jordan, as well as other Arab nations, have rejected calls by Trump to relocate the territory’s 2.3 million Palestinians during the …

South Africa To Face Mohamed Salah’s Egypt In AFCON, Nigeria Draw Tunisia

South Africa To Face Mohamed Salah’s Egypt In AFCON, Nigeria Draw Tunisia

South Africa will face Mohamed Salah-captained Egypt while Ademola Lookman-inspired Nigeria must tackle Tunisia after the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations group stage draw was made in Rabat on Monday. Hosts Morocco face giantkillers Comoros in the opening match of the 24-team tournament on December 21 while title-holders Ivory Coast will come up against five-time winners Cameroon. Sudan, a country ravaged by civil war, drew Algeria, and the clash of Senegal and the Democratic Republic of Congo is set to be another group-stage highlight.    Prolific scorer Salah has won multiple honours with Liverpool, but victory in the AFCON has eluded him. He came closest by finishing a runner-up in 2017 and 2022. Apart from South Africa, the record seven-time champions will take on two other countries from the south of the continent, Angola and Zimbabwe, in Group B.  Nigeria, runners-up to the Ivory Coast last year, are blessed with outstanding forwards, including African Footballer of the Year Lookman and his predecessor Victor Osimhen.  Tunisia, making a record 17th consecutive AFCON appearance, and …

Trump pause applies to all foreign aid; Israel, Egypt get waiver, says State Dept memo | News Today News

US President Donald Trump’s 90-day foreign aid pause applies to new and existing assistance, according to a State Department memo seen by Reuters on Friday, which also states that waivers have been issued for military financing for Israel and Egypt. Just hours after taking office on Monday, Trump ordered the pause in foreign development assistance pending assessments of efficiencies and consistency with his foreign policy. But the scope of the order was not immediately known and it was unclear what funding could be cut given that the US Congress sets the federal US government budget. The State Department memo, signed by the new Secretary of State Marco Rubio and dated Friday, said effective immediately, senior officials “shall ensure that, to the maximum extent permitted by law, no new obligations shall be made for foreign assistance” until Rubio has made a decision after a review. It says that for existing foreign assistance awards stop-work orders shall be issued immediately until reviewed by Rubio. Across the board, “decisions whether to continue, modify, or terminate programs will be …

Giant Horned Dinosaur Fossils Rediscovered in Egypt, WWII Lost Treasures

Giant Horned Dinosaur Fossils Rediscovered in Egypt, WWII Lost Treasures

Fossil evidence of a massive horned dinosaur has been rediscovered through previously unseen photographs of remains destroyed during World War II. The dinosaur, named Tameryraptor markgrafi, lived approximately 95 million years ago in what is now Egypt. Spanning an estimated length of 33 feet, the species is considered one of the largest known terrestrial predators. The fossils were initially unearthed in 1914 in Egypt’s Bahariya Oasis and housed in Germany before being lost in a wartime bombing. Revelation Through Archived Images According to the study published in PLOS One, the fossils had been mistakenly classified as belonging to the Carcharodontosaurus group. Newly discovered photographs, stored in the Huene Archive at the University of Tübingen, revealed features such as a prominent horn and an enlarged braincase, differentiating the specimen from others in the group. Maximilian Kellermann, a doctoral student at the Bavarian State Collection for Paleontology and Geology, noted the significant distinctions upon reviewing the photographs. Speaking to Live Science, he expressed initial confusion, followed by excitement as the differences became apparent. Historical Context and Classification …

New Orleans Attacker Visited Canada, Egypt In 2023, Says FBI

Washington, United States: The man accused of the ramming attack that killed 14 revelers on a crowded New Orleans street had earlier visited the city on apparent reconnaissance missions, once recording the location using camera-equipped glasses, investigators said Sunday. They said he had also traveled to both Egypt and Canada in the two years prior, though it was unclear what he did on those trips. US Army veteran Shamsud-Din Jabbar first came to the Louisiana city from his Texas home in late October, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said in a briefing. On that first visit, according to a video released by the agency, Jabbar slowly rode a bicycle through the iconic French Quarter while filming the scene with his Meta smart glasses. Meta glasses allow users to take photos or videos without using their hands, FBI special agent Lyonel Myrthil said. The video shows Jabbar at one point studying his reflection in a full-length mirror, possibly testing the glasses. He visited the city again on November 10, according to the FBI. Myrthil said Jabbar …
