‘Your consent is not an EMI’: Kunickaa Sadanand on Rs 370 biryani row after backing Pranit | Entertainment News

The controversy surrounding comedian Pranit More’s viral crowd-work clip continues to spark debate online, but actor Kunickaa Sadanand believes the conversation should move beyond memes and outrage. A day after publicly supporting More following his second apology, Kunickaa shared a video on social media arguing that the Rs 370 biryani row exposes a much deeper social issue about entitlement, consent and emotional guilt. Addressing the controversy, Kunickaa said that while social media users have been making jokes and memes about the incident, she believes it reflects a much larger societal problem. “People are making jokes and memes about the Rs.370 biryani debate on social media. But I think there is a very deep social issue behind this controversy. In our society, many people still think that if they pay for dinner, give a gift, sponsor a trip, then there is an obligation on the other person.” She said that many women internalise this feeling even when no one explicitly pressures them. The actor said, “And many girls start feeling guilty within themselves without any pressure. …

Supreme Court Talks Of CBI Probe Into Homeowners’ Troubles

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has expressed concern about the alleged nexus between banks and builders and assured that a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation will be held into the grievances of homeowners. A group of homeowners have gone to court, claiming that they are being forced by banks to pay EMIs although they have not obtained possession of flats due to delay by builders and developers.  “We are not going to certify any institution as bad or good,” said Justice Surya Kant, who was heading the two-judge bench hearing the matter.  “We will definitely have CBI probe. Oscars special: How football goalkeepers with glorious time-wasting theatrics chew the clock, featuring Jordan Pickford and Emi Martinez | Football News

The only earthly abode where time wasting does not denote inaction is perhaps a football field. To run the clock down, footballers feign injuries, clutch their limbs in pain, roll on the grass, pose as though the roof has crumbled on them, so much so that it is theatre unto itself. It’s the opposite of the phrase in the lexicon—spending time doing nothing. But footballers have transformed it into a specialised (dark) art, and 140-odd years later, the lawmakers have emerged none the wiser in eliminating the malaise (or genius) that has plagued the sport, continuing to devise clampdown measures. So to bell the old but pesky cat, the International Football Association Board (IFAB) has reached a consensus that football’s worst time-keepers are the goalkeepers, and so referees will award corners and indirect free-kicks if they hold onto the ball for more that eight seconds from next season. The prevailing law affords only six seconds, but has been leniently implemented. Even the most hard-fisted referee refrains from awarding indirect free kicks, unless in extreme cases. …

Comparing the film industry to a rollercoaster, he described how success can make one feel at the top of their game while the world is behind them, and downfall can be equally difficult.  The Masti actor revealed that his career graph made him understand how quickly situations change for an actor, which leads to a major financial crunch. Oberoi shared that he measured his success based on the number of bouquets he used to get on his birthday.  “When you are doing well, there’s no place in the house for the bouquets that come in from producers, directors, co-stars; it’s just filled up. And …
